Q:The packaging states “Do not use a wrench on metal threaded end”. I am connecting these to the threaded end of a shower valve using PTFE pipe thread sealant. Should the fittings only be hand tight?

Answer This Question
A: We are working to update the packaging and instructions for this fitting. You can use a wrench on the metal threaded end. First, hand tighten the fitting and then give another 1/4 to 1/2 turn using a wrench.

Q:I'm trying to come off the hot water tanks safely to hook up to cpvc
by|Jun 30, 2020
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: This fitting will adapt to the galvanized nipples on the hot water tank. However, you must have 18" of metal between the hot water tank outlets and your CPVC pipe (any plastic based pipe...PEX too) in case of a fire. Use a stainless steel connector to attach to the hot water tank and then begin your CPVC run. An item that would be ideal for your application is Apollo Model # FSBBS34F18BV, Internet #301492142, Store SKU #1002439745, Store SO SKU #1002377323. The connector will screw onto the hot water tank and then you can push your CPVC pipe into the Tectite push ball valve.
