      A:  Rudy567334, This system does not require cleaning or back washing. After the certified time of use, 6 years or 600,000 gallons of filtration has passed, the entire tank will need to be changed. During the time period of use, the pre-filter needs to be changed every 2 months and the post-filter will need to be changed every 6 months. Thank you, Aquasana Service Team

        A:  It does not remove minerals from hard water. It changes the minerals chemically so that they do not stick to plumbing, surfaces, etc. See the Aquasana website for detailed description.

                Q:I'm confused... this is advertised as a 6 year system so I would think it would designed in such a way that allows it to be that. Yet it comes with 2 filters. How often do the filters need to be changed?

The pre-filter before it that removes sediment and dirt needs to be changed every 2 months and the post-filter that assist with micro bacteria needs to be changed every 6 months.
