Q:I am guessing that you are supposed to start from the bottom step if you are using new risers as well. My risers are in good shape and I painted them white, so I won't be installing new risers. My question is do I need to install new risers? If I don't, is there a reason I can't start at the top step instead of the bottom? How long do I need to let the Liquid Nails Cure before we can walk on them? Do you need to apply body weight to the step to make sure the Liquid Nails is adhering properly?

Answer This Question
A: I installed risers at the same time I installed mine. I started at the bottom stair and overlapped the riser from the next stair above to help create a seal as well as a little insurance to "help" hold the stair cap down. I used liquid nails to hold it down, and just used my weight to push them down, and I haven't had any issues. I installed them in the afternoon and by the next morning they were good to go. After I was done I used a small amount of caulk clear or white, whatever your preference, along all of the edges to help make the seams water proof. The cap a treads are a laminate type material and I don't think they are waterproof like the vinyl plank flooring they match. With that said, as to your question, I don't see why you couldn't start from the top and keep your current risers. I would caulk the edges though, just to create a seal. The other thing is the surface is very smooth, it doesn't have a texture, so if you have a worry about slipping, be careful.

Q:Do these work with nose-less plywood stairs? Are they the same thickness as the LVP (for the top of the stairs) or should I expect a thickness difference between them?

Answer This Question
A: They will work with the noseless stairs, mine are installed on noseless stairs and I have had no issues. They are a different thickness than the LVP. I ended up having to buy one of the other options the sell that snaps in place for the top stair.

Q:The measurements on the item indicate 1-11/16, then 1 inch stair thickness. My stair noses are 1 inch. Is this product the correct size for my stairs as far as nose size?
