Q:How many tubes to cover 540 square feet of tile
by|Oct 25, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  You should be able to install 6 ceiling tiles with a single 9 oz tube of Ceilume Ceiling Tile Adhesive. 540 sq ft works out to about 135 ceiling tiles. 135 divided by 6 = 22.5 Tubes of adhesive so 4 cases will give you a little extra "just in case".

A:  You will need a caulking gun for the Ceilume Ceiling Tile adhesive.

A:  Yes, you need a standard size caulk gun for using these. Watch out, if the adhesive gets to the outside edges of your tiles, the caulk will dry and be visible.

Q:How much Of the adhesive is necessary to glue up 1 12”x12” Ceiling tile

                          Answer This Question

A:  I would put a line of glue around the tile and maybe an x in the middle. So, it isn't a huge amount, but it isn't small, either. I do know that I couldn't get any other adhesive to work, no matter what kind it was. Sometimes, I would still have to hold the tile up for a bit to make sure it had attached completely.

A:  You have to use a fair amount of adhesive for each tile. I've done the ceiling on two small bathrooms so far. My most recent install was an 11'x5' bathroom and I used roughly 8 tubes (I had two left over from my smaller bathroom.) You will know very quickly if you don't use enough because the tile will fall off the ceiling after a few minutes of adhesion.

A:  Yes, the Ceilume Ceiling Tile adhesive will work in a high moisture area as long as the ceiling is completely dry and free from cracks, leaks, or unsound drywall/plaster. After installation of ceiling tiles, allow 24-48 hrs for the material to cure before using the shower.
