A:  Our backflow preventer is threaded in ¾” hose thread (¾” FHT X ¾” MHT) same thread used in your standard garden hose. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our technical service/product support team directly at 1-800-322-9146 or tech@digcorp.com.

Q:Can this device be installed at an elevation lower than the highest elevation of the drip emitters?

    Answer This Question

A:  Mine is lower than the majority of my emitters and it works fine.

A:  It should drip when the pressure is off.

      by|Jan 13, 2024

A:  This is installed on the hose near the timer. My drip lines do run lower than the item shown for 1/2 of system. The other half is at the street level so it is above it

        by|Feb 2, 2022

A:  If the backflow preventer is installed at a point where it is below the drip emitters, it will likely still function, but the device may discharge more water than normal when the system valve is closed. The backflow preventer should always be installed outdoors in a place with drainage and where brief water discharges from the device will cause no damage.

          by|May 7, 2023

A:  It should be fine. Neither water pressure nor flow should be reduced with this device. It is designed to restrict water from going back up into the line.

                A:  Mine did not leak.

A:  Yes it does, this hose end backflow preventer is not for use with sump pumps (only hose bibs). Sounds like you should be looking for some type of check valve.

A:  The short answer is yes the water does leak out of this backflow preventer after the water is shut off. It is designed to do exactly that.

A:  I purchased several of these for use on my system we built for watering our container garden and flower beds. I used the plumbers thread tape to seal the connection. I have not had any problems with our systems.

A:  I have found that under certain circumstances when you first install the fitting it can leak. I have always used the Teflon thread tape which always works for me.

A:  I have one and have been using it 3 years. It doesn't leak. You must use hose gaskets at every threaded connection.

Q:After 3 months of no issues, I started to see a steady stream of water from my backflow preventer. I have my water timer, backflow preventer, pressure reducer and then the irrigation tubing in this order. I put a new backflow preventer in and same issue immediately. Short of changing out the pressure reducer, any ideas on the problem? When I remove the backflow preventer altogether and hook the water timer directly to the pressure reducer, everything works fine. But I'm guessing this is not a good idea. Any help is appreciated!

A:  I love how digcorp says this is "quite unusual" - out of 29 reviews, 17 are one-star. This is a piece of garbage and I won't buy anything else from this company.

A:  Put the pressure reducer Before the back flow valve. You have too much psi in that line and its pushing the valve open

A:  This is quite unusual. In this case I suggest you contact DIG for troubleshooting assistance - 1.800.322.9146 or dig@digcorp.com. It might also be a good idea to determine the static pressure at the faucet by installing a pressure gauge on the faucet.

A:  Interesting. Is there water still coming out with basically normal flow with your drip lines (maybe a touch less depending on how much water is coming out in that steady stream)? Maybe there's a block somewhere along the line that is applying force? This is just a guess, hopefully almost a year later you found the issue!
