Q:Does my basement slab need to be perfectly level to install these?
by|Jun 6, 2023

Answer This Question

A:  Hello Siri, Our panels can handle a slope of up to 2" over 10'. Variances of up to 1/16” is within tolerance for our panels. No shimming would be required as our panels will settle and contour to this after about 10 days. For anything between 1/16” – ¼”, you would use our leveling shims. If it is greater than ¼”, a self-leveling compound is recommended. Please note: Our shims were not designed to level a floor, rather for individual panels that require stabilizing. Shim(s) should slide in freely, without the need to lift the panel, or friction from above. If there is friction, remove a layer (Shims can be stacked to a maximum of 4 shims) or if only one shim is being used, remove it altogether.

Q:My basement had been prone to minor flooding? will I need to peel up all the dricore in that event or can I just peel up one tile and dehumidifiers and move air under it to prevent mold?

    Answer This Question

A:  if your basement is prone to minor flooding I suggest you fix that first. This product is more a moisture barrier from the cement floor. You would never be able to air out the bottom of tiles the way you think. Mold would spread. Cement wicks moisture.

A:  Hello Robert, In the event of a flood where the OSB (wood) portion of the panels were to become saturated, we recommend replacing the panels. Unfortunately, there is no telling whether or not the water contained bacteria that has now become trapped in the core of the panels. Any attempt to efficiently dry out the panels is not a viable option.

A:  Hello Nicole, While the choice is yours, the preferred method is to install walls on top.

A:  I have installed this product in three homes and all were done after the walls were constructed. My thought is the studs are better setting on the floor directly over this floor panel. BTW - very happy with the product.

Q:My walls are already framed but no sheetrocked. Should this be installed 1/4" from the framed wall. Or do I need to sheetrock it first, then install floor.

              Answer This Question

A:  Im not a professional nor a contractor. Im a diy homeowner. In my case i put down the drycire  then did the sheetrock.

              by|Apr 14, 2023

A:  Sheet rock first and allow for a gap on the bottom of the sheet rock. Sheet rock will wick moister from the cement floor. Sand and finish walls then install the sub floor. The drywall compound dust would be more difficult to clean off the obs flooring.

                by|Nov 13, 2023

A:  Hey! You can do either or. I personally would install your floor before your sheet rock.

                  by|Apr 14, 2023

A:  Hello Chris, We recommend finishing your walls first with sheetrock then installing your subfloor with a 1/4" perimeter gap. This will prevent the drywall dust and mud from getting on and under the panels.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Hello Bill, These panels are designed for typical concrete floors that breathe and are known to seep and absorb vapor moisture, In the event of a small leak (less than 1/4") the panels raised profile could allow said leak to travel to a drain and disperse.

A:  To allow for airflow and some expansion and contraction, it is recommended that panels have ¼" space from all perimeter walls and room obstacles, such as support posts and stairs.
