Can I use pex fittings coming off the valve itself or do I need to use copper fittings? I haven’t used copper very much.

Hi Rick! Thank you for your question! I will be happy to help. You can install the R10000-rough-in valve with either copper or PEX. Please see the following links for each valve. https://www.deltafaucet.com/search-results?title=R10000-UNWS https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/R10000-PXWS Best Regards, Tim

      By|Dec 10, 2020

Yes--I used pex fttings and pex lines on the hot/cold inlets to the valve. Depending on your situation you may want to consider something other than pex for the riser.

        By|Dec 14, 2020

The installation instructions only say, "use proper fittings to connect (water supply)" so if there is a proper copper-to-PEX adapter fitting, you could use that. Alternatively, there is a valve body that comes up in the Home Depot search, which already has PEX crimp connectors attached: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-MultiChoice-Universal-Tub-and-Shower-Valve-Body-Rough-In-Kit-with-1-2-in-PEX-Crimp-Connections-R10000-PXWS/100482555? I'd buy that one instead!

        By|Dec 17, 2020

You will probably have to get threaded copper female to Pex fitting. The copper will thread onto the value body, then connect the pex.

I'm installing this in a new bath in the basement. It will only be a shower.

Hidan! Thank you for your question! I will be happy to help. If you are installing it for a shower only application we recommend you purchase the R10000-UNWSHF, so you won't need to cap off the bottom port. https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/R10000-UNWSHF Best Regards, Tim

Yes, That is how I used this - I installed in a stand alone shower. As noted in the install directions If either of the two outlet ports is to be unused, seal the port with a pipe plug

            By|Oct 13, 2020

Yes all you need is a 1/2" brass cap to seal off the tub outlet from the valve.

I'm interested in installing an aquadance showerhead and handheld shower combo set in our bathroom but we need a valve and shower handle. Can this valve be used for any brand handle and shower head or delta only?

            Answer This Question

Hi! Thank you for your question! I will be happy to help. This valve will provide water to showering components, i.e. any showerhead or handshower. However, the trim kit you install onto this valve must be a Delta trim kit. Please contact us directly if you need any further assistance! Best Regards, Tim

            By|Oct 5, 2020

YES, fhis valve can be used with any shower head and handheld system. I used the tub port on the valve to connect the hand held sprayer using a on/off valve on fhe shower head and the hand held. It works great and my wife likes it.

              By|Oct 5, 2020

The install I did with this unit did not require a Delta handle or shower head.

              By|Oct 10, 2020

No, I installed a different brand shower head with it.

Opened install wall to discover it's only depth of a 2x4 (about 1 1/2 inches) backside is my hall. After purchase of this valve & trim T14455-H2OLHP tub& shower. All info given with valve install is "see info on bag with thin wall install" & the RP image. For life of me, can't see what it's for except a metal backing surface for a thinner stringer? Round gasket looking parts with 2 screw holes eachx2. Want to use new valve & trim replacing 1960s 3-handle setup if doable--wondering cost effective method. Do I build out depth plumbing finish wall, use sturdier support, or what would this "thin wall kit" do for me? Wish details were in valve install info to avoid buying, maybe return. Thanks.

                  Answer This Question

From what I researched, the thin wall kit strengthens the shower wall to keep valve from flexing/wobbling when mounting without any studs supporting valve. when I had mine replaced the plumber didn't have to support the valve because the copper piping coming out of slab was secure enough that it didn't move when installed.

Will shower pressure be affected in any way if I Installed this one and capped it vs. having gone with the "HF" model that is designed for shower only applications? I'm trying to see if it's worth the hassle to have my plumber replace with "HF" model prior to covering wall. Thanks!

I did what you are planning (capped the opening for the bath spout) and have no problems at all with shower pressure. The unit I replaced had been installed by a plumber, who had also capped the opening.

Capping the tub output shouldn't impact your pressure available for the shower output

Hi Jerry, Thank you for your question. The Delta R10000-UNBX should have a flow rate between 6.8 gpm & 8.5 gpm @ 80 psi depending on the valve trim being used. If it will help here is a link to the flow rate comparisons: https://www.deltafaucet.com/sites/delta/files/2019-11/Delta%20Flow%20Chart%202018-06-27.pdf If you have any questions, comments or concerns contact us by phone, email, or social media. Is there an alternative valve to replace this one that has integrated shut offs?

                        1. Can I use female threaded to Pex crimp elbows to attach PEX to the inlets and shower outlet? 2. Can stainless steel pipe be used instead of galvanized for the tub spout? I'm trying to find a solution that doesn't involve sweating copper & I know galvanized steel isn't ideal for hard water (I have water with a high iron sediment content & no water softener/filter). 3. Will the water still come out when I turn it to hot even if the water has not warmed up yet (for some reason it takes several minutes for the hot water to reach my faucets & it won't heat up unless the water runs until the hot water comes out).

                        Answer This Question

Unable to answer 1 & 2. Regarding #3. Will the water still come out when I turn it to hot even if the water has not warmed up yet (for some reason it takes several minutes for the hot water to reach my faucets & it won't heat up unless the water runs until the hot water comes out). Answer: The temperature of the water in the pipe closest to the valve is what you are going to get until the hot water in the heater reaches the valve. You may want to consider a recirculating pump so hot water is immediately available at the farthest faucet from the hot water heater.

Yes but you should install integral stop valves on each side first or you'll have to put shut-off valves on the supply lines in an accessible place in order to conform to the plumbing code.
