Answer This Question
A: Hi Battman, this particular baluster is available in 34 inch lengths (Item# 202088453), not 31 inch. They can be cut down to 31 inches by trimming off the top and bottom if you're installing them on a knee-wall. If you have additional questions, we will assist the best we can and reply as quickly as possible. You can also call our Customer Care Team at 678-455-5188 (M-F, 8am-4pm ET) and we can answer your questions directly. Thank you.

Q:The bottom of these are straight across - is the dowel removable on these so that if you wanted to cut it at an angle you could put it back in to fit on a knee wall, for instance? Thanks!

A: No, the dowel is part of the entire turning.

A: Hi ASRG, that's a great question, so thanks for asking it.The pins on the bottom are not removable and would be removed if you cut them as you describe. The work-around is to buy a package of loose dowel pins (ex: item #10055760) and drilling your own holes. It's the same concept as having the pin on the bottom in the first place. If you have additional questions, we'll reply as quickly as we can, or you can call our Customer Care Team at 678-45-5188 (M-F 8am-4pm ET) and we can answer your questions directly. Thank you!

Q:What is the diameter of the tapered top baluster bottom? I have to plug top rail holes to redrill the spacing and add additional balusters. The spacing is too wide and a small child easily fit & fall. I need to buy dowels to plug up the whole to redrill.

A: Hi MasonM, thanks for the question. These primed balusters are 1-1/4 in. square on the bottom. The pins at the top are .625 inches in diameter, and that dimension continues down 3 inches before it begins to taper out. If you have additional questions or need more information, we will reply as quickly as we can. Thank you!

A: Hi Marlene, spacing for these is 4inches, so a spherical ball cannot pass through. This is outlined in the provided install instructions, which can be found on the product page linked as "Installation Guide"

A: Hi Robbie, thanks for the question. The short answer is "yes they can." The longer answer involves cutting the baluster bottoms so that all balusters appear to have the bottom blocks the same length. If you have additional questions, we'll reply as quickly as we can. Thank you.
