A: Hi. Please email a couple of photos of your home's vinyl siding and we will email you back colors that may match. Email support@ezhandrail.com. Also, the answer to what I believe your question to be: we offer this handrail in an unpainted (mill) raw form that you can paint (recommend Rust-Oleum). As you can imagine, we do not offer a finish warranty, but you can expect good weathering. The Silver Vein powder coat finish offered on this handrail is textured and bonded and is very difficult to paint. Thank you for your question. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: I’ve use two of these handrails and they are great, including the mounting hardware. Excellent quality and easy installation. I guess you could paint it but then you’d really be compromising one of the best selling points of the handrail - its finish. The silver vein finish is high quality and looks great. I would not even consider painting it. If that’s what you wanting, you’d be better off going with a cheaper handrail.
A: Hi Jon. Yes, you can make a 12' handrail by connecting two 6' kits (EZA6KIT-HB) with a 5" splice (EZA650-M). I recommend adding a couple dabs of epoxy on the splice. Simply type the model#'s into the homedepot.com search bar to review these items. Thank you for your question. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: These rail kits are available in six foot lengths. Purchase two and install for the required twelve foot.
A: My handrail has tremendous strength, virtually no flex at all.
A: Hi Almon. This is a commercial strength handrail. It can withstand 450+ lbs of downward pressure at the bracket when attached into a wood stud with the provided fastener. If you need more information, please email your request to support@ezhandrail.com. Thank you for your question, Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: So far, no - it's been 2 years but in dry southern California. But I suspect that if you don't scratch the paint, it will not rust. It is made to use outdoors.
A: Great item for our raised garden area. Rain does not cause rust. The hand rail looks very professional in our garden area and allows safe passage up a short set of rock stairs. People comment on the handrail addition to our back yard. WE LOVE THE HAND RAIL. So easy to set up in your yard!
A: This is a beautiful rail. We installed it on an exterior corner section of garage which is exposed to rain and harsh afternoon sun. Rail helps a challenged walker hold on to going down a slight slope from driveway to sidewalk. It is as perfect today as it was when installed six months ago. Recommend it highly.
A: I put the rail up on our church porch and there are no signs of rust. Very nice and sturdy
A: I have had this for over a year. No evidence of rust or weathering. it is still in great shape.
A: Hi JD. This handrail built to withstand the toughest weather conditions without failures or rusting. It is an aluminum alloy thick-walled tube with an ultra-durable (AAMA 2604) powder coat finish and stainless fasteners. Thank you for your question. Dan H (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: Hi. We offer a 6' length. Simply search for Model # EZA6KIT-SV. If 6' is still too long, you may cut out a portion of the handrail and splice it back together using our 5" splice. Search for Model# EZA650-M. Thank you for your consideration. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: I have purchased 6-8 handrails with the 42-inch posts (4x4” base and 2x2” powder coated posts) and have zero problems with yellowing over the 3-4 years I have had them installed. I don’t expect that they will as they are built with aluminum and have been powder coated. Highly recommend this product. Made to last and very sturdy!
A: Metal I think 25yrs warranty
A: The caps are made of a material similar to what the railing is made of. My railing is for outdoor use. It was installed over a year ago and has withstood winter and summer in the northeast and looks as good as it did the day it was installed.
A: Yes I bought mine several months ago and installed in my garage. End caps are made of same material as the rail. Quality product I would definitely recommend.
A: We've had ours for almost a year and no discoloration. The end caps are made with a type of heavy metal. It definitely is not plastic, I can assure you on that. It is a heavy duty end cap. We sprayed ours with an anti-rust paint spray. Looks like another spray would do some good.
A: The end-cap appears to be the same material as the hand rail itself. We have it in bathroom right next to shower and have not had any yellowing or fade.
A: Hi Jeph. The end caps are made of aluminum alloy and have an identical powder coat finish (AAMA 2604 spec.) to the handrail. Thank you for your question. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: The end caps are metal. The whole structure is metal and heavy duty. We have ours along side the steps of our front porch. It has been a very nice addition to our house for over a year and has not yellowed. We would purchase this item again.
A: From the wall to the inside of the hand rail is approximately 1.4-1.5 inches. The tube is an additional 1.9 inches to just shy of 3.5 inches.
A: It extends out 3 1/2 inches from the wall.
A: There is about 1 3/4" clearance. However, we had a strange bit of molding in the stucco around our window that protruded about an inch out from the stucco wall where we needed the brackets to go, leaving a real knuckle scratcher situation! Our solution was to lag two blocks of painted 2x4s into the studs and mount the brackets onto those. We angled them to match the angle of the brackets, and it actually not only looks nice and gives us knuckle room, but it enabled us to have a little more leeway with where we placed the brackets. Longer sections of 2x4 would allow us to change the angle of the rail to match the step and yet align the ends where we wanted them. PS ~ We found wall studs from the inside through the drywall with a finishing nail, and measured corresponding distances from the window edges to find the same studs in the outside wall. God bless!
A: Hi. 1.5" from the wall to the edge of the round handrail when installed on the cradle bracket. Thank you for your question. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: Hi SB. At this time, we do not have an instruction set for masonry installation, but I will share some recommendations below. We do sell the masonry anchors on homedepot.com, search model# EZAT225-BZ. They come with a black bolt cap covers to match the black handrail even thought the fasteners are bronze. Tips for installing into masonry wall when using the 3 in. Bronze Masonry Fastener (2-Pack): 1. Pre drill hole size: 5/16" x 4" (Tapcon is 3/8" x 3") 2. Test drilling into brick in non visible location to test density of concrete/brick. 3. If the bricks are hollow or honeycombed, fasten into the mortar. Thank you for your question. Dan H. A: Hi Jim. Polished/gloss is not a stocking color however, we offer 100's of powder coat colors. The only downside is the 40%+ upcharge depending on the order size and a three to four week lead time. Visit ezhandrail.com to see a color chart and email us at support@ezhandrail.com with your quote request. Thank you for your consideration. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: Hi Jim. You can cut the 8 ft. handrail to 7 ft. using a wood blade on your chop or circular saw and then insert the endcap. A 9 ft. single piece handrail is not feasible because UPS does not take shipments over 8 ft. However you can splice together a 6 ft. and 3 ft. (or two 6 ft. sections if you wan the splice in the middle) handrail using the 5" splice (model# EZA650-M). Thank you for your question. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
