Q:How often do the batteries need to be replaced in the battery powered units? Does it drain battery entire time heater is running, or just a quick ignition of gas then off?

Answer This Question

A:  I've had a battery heater for three years now and had to change the two D cells about once a year. But from experience I would recommend one with a digital thermostat.

A:  Hello Scott. It does drain battery each time the heater is running. It's being used during ignition and for holding the gas solenoid open to keep the gas flowing to the burner. Depending on each use, the battery could last for a maximum of 2 months. Q:Does this unit have elevation limitations?
        by|Aug 11, 2019

        Answer This Question

A:  I'm not aware of any elevation limitations. The installation manual gives great detail about clearances from walls, and, as long as there's sufficient water flow to trigger the heater, you should be able to mount it wherever it is convenient. To be 100% sure, however, you should find the user manual online and make sure. We mounted ours outdoors about 4 feet above the ground with a shed-like housing around it that's open on the bottom.

        by|Aug 11, 2019

A:  Hello! Yes, this model is tested to work at a maximum of 2,500 feet of elevation, Installing any higher can result to lower efficiency and difficulties in ignition. A:  Should work provided there is enough water volume flowing thru heater. You can not use flow restricters on faucets. I live off grid and used a 12 volts DC pump for a year before finally getting a well.

A:  This model is intended for indoor use. There are electronic components so the internal parts should remain dry. An occasional splash of water on the outside would not likely be a problem.
