I built off road trailers and many times I use 1/4" ungraded bolts for testing, but, once stuff is working, many times I replace with grade 8 bolts. You can get two 1/4" drive ratchets, put two nuts on the end of the grade 2 bolt, put the bolt through a 2x4, hold the bolt with one ratchet, and twist the last nut until the bolt breaks. Now try it with a (grade 5) 3/8" bolt.
