Answer This Question
A: Zinc offers some rust resistance but will rust over time. Stainless steel is more suitable for outdoor use.
by|Dec 2, 2019
A: No, they are not rust-free for outdoor use.
by|Nov 28, 2019
A: These are only zinc-plated which will slow rusting; for true rust-proof outside use, stainless would be best (but more $).
by|Nov 27, 2019
A: Yes. Zinc is rust free. The ones I hung 2 years ago still shine

Q:Can these be screwed into a metal awning to hang patio lights?

Answer This Question
A: I would think so but I guess it depends exactly on your application. They would not support a lot of weight that way. Putting them through the metal awning could also cause it to leak if done through the roof.

A: These are primarily for wood applications, for metal applications we would need to know more information (type of material/metal, if hollow or solid, metal gauge, etc.). Without knowing more about the make-up of the awning it is difficult to know if these can be screwed in or support any weight.

A: They're not self-tapping. But if you put a small pilot hole with a 3/16th or a 11/64th drill bit they'd probably go in no problem, depending on density of the awning material. I hand screwed them into floor joists to hang some 4ft lights and they probably could hold 50+ pounds each (rating says 30).

Answer This Question
A: I'd say I put more weight on these than an average person, I used this to tie up a grape vine using paracord. Started with one hook I had about a hundred pounds on one hook, it bent but held.
The final installation had 5 hooks.
