Q:Does this tile have a slightly rough surface making it suitable for bathroom floors that may be wet and therefore slippery?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question. This porcelain tile is tested and rated as passing the national standard for DCOF (dynamic coefficient of friction). That means this tile is rated as suitable for level interior spaces expected to be walked upon when wet. However, all tiles will feel more slippery when wet and sampling is recommended to review the tile first. Tile choice for residential use is left to the discretion of the end-user. To request a sample, please email HomeDepotCustomerService@floridatile.com.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your interest. While Galactic Slate does pass the standard for DCOF (dynamic coefficient of friction), it is important to consider that all tiles will become more slippery when exposed to outdoor elements such as wet dirt and rain. In residential settings, tiles selection is left to the discretion of the homeowner. Galactic Slate 12x24 is recommended for exterior applications that are covered. Answer This Question
A: We appreciate your interest! Galactic Slate is recommended for covered exterior installations only. All tiles will become more slippery when exposed to rain and dirt. While Galactic does pass the standard test for Dynamic Coefficient of Friction (DCOF), sampling is recommended before placing an order. This step helps customers to determine the tile is appropriate for their specific use. Tile selection is left to the discretion of the residential end-user and samples can be ordered on Galactic’s product page with “Choose Sample.” For further questions, please reach us directly at HomeDepotCustomerService@floridatile.com.
