A: Hello, the maximum air slot width centered over the peak of the roof would be 3-1/4" where there is a ridge board present. When no ridge board is present, the air slot is 7/8" wide on both sides of the peak. For more information, please call us at 877-GAF-Roof. Thank you

Q:Can I use this on hips?
by|May 8, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hello, we do not recommend this product be used to ventilate hips, only ridges. For venting hips, may we suggest our GAF Cobra Hip Vent, which has been specially designed for use at the roof hips in terms of ventilation, as well as enhanced weather resistance typically required at this portion of the roof. Thank you

Answer This Question
A: Hello, while not formally required in the published installation instructions, if thicker laminate or designer shingles are used, we do allow for a bead of roofing cement or polyurethane roofing and flashing sealant to be placed at the junction of the baffle and shingle. Please be sure not to clog any of the weep holes in the baffle with excess cement. Thank you

Q:Why can't this product be used with gable end louvers?
by|Feb 19, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hello, we recommend this product be used with intake vents at the lower portion of the roof. Since gable vents are located, typically, towards the top of the attic space, you're essentially "short circuiting" the air movement through the entire attic space. The ridge vent may pull from the the gable vents, essentially leaving the lower portion of the attic space without airflow. Thank you
