Q:I want to replace a GE JS998 slide-in with a GE JS760 slide-in. The JS998 required overlap for the cooktop, so there's 1 of counter before the backsplash. Do I need to remove that inch of material to install the JS760? How do both models' depths compare?

Answer This Question
A: Hi there - We appreciate you checking in with us about this. Model JS998 had a depth of 27 1/2" while model JS760 has a depth of 28 1/4" which is slightly deeper. The new model (JS760) requires a cutout that is 24" deep. We recommend measuring your current cutout space to see if you have 24" with the counter piece, and also measure the depth of the space all the way to the back wall. Compare those measurements to the needed 24" depth, to decide if you'll need to remove the counter piece or not. We know this can be confusing, so if you need additional assistance reach out to us on one of our social media platforms via direct message. We'd be happy to assist you further. Take care. Q:The self clean does it use high temperature to clean or steam? Don't care for steam (have one) but want a convection oven.

Answer This Question
A: Hey there - Thanks for your interest in this model. This specific range has both the steam clean and the self clean cycle. Self clean uses a very high temperature to clean the oven interior, while steam clean is intended to clean small spills using water and a lower cleaning temperature than Self-Clean. You can find additional information on this on page 20 of the use and care manual (https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/86/868101a1-36c5-452f-baac-c770b6e06ed1.pdf). A: Hello- Thanks for reaching out to us. We need to first clarify the type of range you currently have. If you have a drop-in style range you will have part of your kitchen cabinetry running along below the oven door. This style range drops in to your countertop and rests on the counter on each side. The slide-in style range is installed into a fully open space between cabinets and counter. If you do have a drop-in style range, modifications will need to be made to your space. We recommend reviewing the installation instructions -- https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/49/49ca5002-c7fd-4a03-a3c4-b4d9b8483298.pdf -- Please reach out to us via a private message on social media and we will be happy to assist you further. A: You need to cut the bottom of the cabinet of course to receive the slide in. Also wire a female plug to your hard wire to match the plug on this new range
