On Model JVX5360SJSS, if not vented to the outside, the air needs to be recirculated through a disposable charcoal filter that helps remove smoke and odors. This range hood can be installed as either ducted or recirculation. In a ducted application, this range hood can be vented through the wall or ceiling. When installed for recirculation, the range hood vents out the front of the hood. A:  Hello ash - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. All current over-the-range vent hoods can be installed over gas cooking products with up to and including five burners. The Installation Instruction's cabinet opening measurements must be followed. This hood would not be recommended for use above any range or cooktop that has a combined BTU rating over 65,000 BTUs. This does not include the oven/broiler BTUs. Please refer to the Installation Instructions of both the range and this hood for all installation requirements. I hope this helps!
