Q:Will this work on a 7.45mm square-head bolt (0.2930 ) that is torqued to 40lbft? I am trying to find a way to remove the two fuel rail test port plugs on a 7.3L powerstroke diesel that have square heads. I used a Mitutoyo caliper to determine the size.

Answer This Question
A: I believe it will work, the bolts are greater than a 1/4" so our Gator Grip universal socket should grab the square head. Our sockets are tested to 150 foot pounds so the torque should not be a problem. Regards, David

Q:Anyone use for penta bolt for water shutoff cover at street?
by|Apr 11, 2023

Answer This Question
A: It will depend on the size of the Penta bolt. For a street shut-off our 1/2" drive "King Gator" grip socket which fits 7/16" to 1-1/4" might fit. The space inside the shut-off box will also have to be taken into account.

Q:Can you use a 3/8 Gator grill to take out a broken 5/8 spark plug out of a 1999 Dodge ram van b 1500

Answer This Question
A: I think it is doubtful, but maybe. The Gator Grip socket is 1 inch outside diameter so the first question is will it fit into the space where the spark plug broke? If it will fit is there a non-round top area of the spark plug that it can grab? I think you would be better using a 5/8th deep socket. David

A: No it's not deep enough for spark plugs.

A: I don't think so. The device is not a deep socket. The pins only retreat about 1/2".

Answer This Question
A: I have only used it to raise and lower the support jacks on my RV - those are not real tight - as tight as tire lugs have to be I doubt this socket would work well

A: In most cases no. There may be a few old cars with shallow lug nuts that it might fit but for most cars the answer is no.

A: It might be, but I wouldn't ...
... only rated to 450 ft.lbs. torque, break-away torque can be higher. I used 1/2" or 3/4" drive impact sockets to change my tires. It might break or wear-out fast if used for changing a car tire.
... outer dimension is too large to fit into openings at lug nuts in wheel covers on some vehicles

Thanks!
