A: Yes it absolutely can! You should just be able to clean the surface and then lightly sand it with a #600 grit sandpaper. Clean the sanding dust with a damp cloth and allow the surface to dry. From there you can follow our standard instructions which includes using a Brillo/SOS pad. If the paint on the surface is experiencing issues, then I would recommend stripping it using a product called citristrip. This would ensure the failing paint does not negatively effect the adhesion of our primer.
A: You can absolutely paint over your wood trim. De-gloss the trim with a very fine #300 grit sandpaper, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. For unsealed wood, apply a good, water-based wood primer before applying the Primer. Apply the wood primer with a foam roller for smooth finishes because thicker nap rollers will leave a textured finish. From there you can continue with standard prep instructions.
A: You can! Here's how you'd want to prep the surface: First, lightly 'de-gloss' the surface with a very fine grit #600 sandpaper. Wipe up the sanding dust with a damp cloth and allow the surface to dry. Once dried, you can proceed with the standard Giani preparation and painting instructions. Please note that if you plan on applying the paint inside the sink then you will need additional instruction. I would recommend reaching out to us through our website for this. Looking forward to hearing from you!
A: Giani may be applied to concrete counters as long as they are indoor, fully cured, and free of concrete sealer. If there is a sealer on the surface, you’ll need to use a xylene or lacquer thinner to remove it. Be sure to follow all of the manufacturer’s instructions regarding ventilation and extinguishing pilot lights, because xylene/lacquer thinner is very flammable! After you’ve used the xylene or lacquer thinner, follow with rubbing alcohol to remove all residue. It is typically a good idea to acid wash the surface to prep for paint adhesion. You can find some tips on acid washing concrete on this page https://www.wikihow.com/Acid-Wash-Concrete. Be sure to let your counters dry out for several days before beginning the process. Concrete is very porous, so even if the surface feels dry to the touch, more moisture will need to evaporate from the underneath layers of the surface.
A: A finished Giani Granite counter has a high-gloss finish that is similar to polished granite. The counters will feel very smooth to the touch and have a high gloss glass smooth finish. We recommend sanding down the texture on your tops prior to using Giani. You want the counters as smooth as possible prior to using our product.
A: Our epoxy cannot be tinted. Sorry about that!
A: Once applied, your countertops will be tack free in 6 to 8 hours. You can use your dishwasher after 24 hours. After 48 hours, you may lightly use your counters, but it is recommended to wait the full cure time of 7 days (time it takes for your finish to reach its maximum hardness) before cleaning your counters with anything but mild soap and water or placing heavy objects on them. Food Safety: Once the Epoxy Resin Topcoat fully cures, it's completely inert.
