Q:Other epoxy products I have looked into require you to use a heat source after pouring to remove air bubbles. Does this product require any heat? I didn't see it used in the video so I thought I would ask.

Answer This Question

A:  In most cases of consumer epoxy products, you would use heat as an air-releasing method. So we formulated our Giani Epoxy Resin Topcoat with air release agents that prevent trapped air from curing into the finish. It's pretty awesome stuff! Truly no torch or heat is needed, which makes for a simpler, less lengthy application. Please note that using a heat gun with our epoxy will cause our product to discolor.

Q:How do I measure my counter top ?
    by|May 25, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  You can find your square footage by using a tape measure to find the length and width of your surface. Say, for example, that you have a section of counters that is 5 feet long, and 2 feet wide; this would be a 10 sq ft section (5x2). Instead of this, you may also prefer to measure it in inches, as this last section would be 60 inches by 24 inches. 60 x 24 = 1440, which gives you the area in sq inches. To convert this to sq ft, just divide by 144, which would give that this space is 10 sq ft. Simply find the square footage of each area, and then add them together to get your total square footage! You can also find our square footage calculator by clicking on the "SQ FT Calculator" Tab on our website's homepage.

Q:Countertop is laminate. Backsplash is 4?x4? tiles. Will this work over the tiles, or should the tiles be removed?

      Answer This Question

A:  I didn’t use it on tile. The top coat is self leveling and might not adhere.

      by|Aug 6, 2023

A:  Unfortunately, our marble kit will not work over tiles so they will need to be removed prior. If doing so exposes drywall, be sure to prep using the method shown in the included instructions.

Q:I recently bought the Hampton bay finished engineered birch butcher block countertop from Home Depot and planning on using this marble finish on it? Do I need to do anything to the wood first
          by|Apr 25, 2023

          Answer This Question

A:  Yes, Giani may be used on wood. The key is to ensure that your wood surface is as smooth as possible before starting. For wood surfaces (this includes real butcher block, not laminate that looks like butcher block, and unsealed wood trim or countertops), be sure to apply one or two coats of a good water-based wood primer to the particle board or wood surface before applying the Giani primer. Apply the wood primer with a foam roller for ultra-smooth finishes because thicker nap rollers will leave a textured finish.

            Q:Is this heat resistant?
            by|Apr 23, 2023

            Answer This Question

A:  Giani is heat resistant up to 250°F. Just be careful not to place pots or pans directly from ovens or ranges on your countertops because it can damage your Giani over time. We always recommend using trivets or trays when placing hot items on the surface. I would also recommend using a trivet/tray below crock pots as they can generate a high amount of heat.

Q:Can I use this product in my bathroom countertop

              Answer This Question

A:  I would think so. It is an epoxy top. I would definitely let it cure for over a week before using a shower/bathtub. You would not want any moisture to interfere with the curing time.

Q:I painted my laminate countertops a few years ago so do I need to remove paint before doing this?

                Answer This Question

A:  You do not! First, start sanding your existing finish with #600 grit sandpaper to smooth and de-gloss. You do not need to sand down to the original countertop. This is just to de-gloss the existing topcoat on the surface. Wipe up any sanding dust with a damp cloth and allow to dry. Once this has dried, you may proceed with our standard Giani instructions.
