A: This item does not play melodies. It produces 2 tones (ding, dong) for the front door and one for the rear door.

This doorbell requires a 16VAC/10VA transformer. We do not suggest installing with a 24V transformer.

A: Just a standard 16 volt output transformer. It is called a doorbell transformer which you can pickup at any Home Depot. If it is replacing and existing doorbell chime you don’t have to buy a new transformer as long as yours puts out 16 volts. Where the wires attach at the transformer, there is usually a paper plate on the unit which will show the output voltage.
