Q:how long does this need to cure before coating with with tropicool 100% silicone? I see conflicting answers in the product q and a's ranging from 30 to 90 days...pls advise, thx, and also how about the bleedblocker, is it required under the silicone?

    Answer This Question

A:  roofy, when applying Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone over a tar based product such as Henry 209XR you will need to let it cure for at least 90 days. In most cases a bleed blocker is not need for Henry 887. If you need to use a bleed blocker you can use Henry 587 Dura-Brite or Henry 687 Enviro-White for that purpose. Our best advice would be to apply a few small test patches of Henry 887 on the roof surface to see if you get bleed through prior to coating the entire roof.

            Q:Can I use as a foundation sealer
            by|Feb 20, 2024
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  Richard, sorry for the delay in answering your question. The system was having problems in late February and this question was just received. Henry 209XR should not be used as a foundation sealer. You can use Henry 101 Non-Fibered foundation coating or Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion for coating foundations.

Q:Will this work over unhardened Henry 204? We have applied it 2 days ago but it started raining again, it seems not have hardened enough and water still goes through
              by|Feb 18, 2024
              1 Answer
              Answer This Question

A:  John, if you intend to apply Henry 209XR to an area that has Henry 204 on it you will need to remove the 204 first. Asphalt based mastics usually take up to 30 days to harden up since they cure by the slow release of the solvents. Henry 204 is a mastic that should only be applied when the surface is dry. Henry mastics such as Henry 208, 208R and 209XR can be applied in the rain by using the 3-course patch method illustrated on the can label. Since roofs move a lot due to the temperature changes a patched area will probably open back up unless the Henry 181 or 183 Fabric is used. The 3-course patch method is a layer of mastic, embed the fabric over the seam, apply a second layer of mastic over the fabric.

                  Answer This Question

A:  Briank, you will need to remove the Henry 289 prior to using the Henry 209XR to seal the seam. Henry 209XR contains aggressive solvents and may cause the 289 to emulsify over time.
