    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. The Horizontal Toast is designed for a full spread glue installation. It should not be nailed or stapled down.

A:  I have not tried to nail it.The boards a solid bamboo and could handle a nail but it would be hard to hide them unless on the edge under baseboard. The interlocking mechanism is tongue & groove and could handle a tiny nail or staple hold but it would interfere with the interlocking fit. The boards together fairly tightly. Hope this info helps.

A:  We used a brad nailer at a diagonal into the tongue end and worked well. Do not recommend this floor- dents very easily if you ever drop anything

A:  Yes... The can be nailed, no I would not use staples.  The floor tens to split when using staples.  I used nails and had no problems.  I installed it over three years ago.

Q:My total square footage (including several rooms) is 1441 sq. ft.. How do I calculate waste? Have to do it room by room?

              Answer This Question

A:  The boards are consistent mostly.  I think we had two boards that were damaged in shipping.  At the edge of the room where you finish you most likely will have to rip the boards to make them fit.  So there you will have a small amount of cutting.  But if there is enough cut off, you can start the next room with that portion.  You will need to measure room by room.  Follow the manufacturer instructions in the box.  Open the boxes and let them acclimate to the room for several days.

A:  Thank you for your question. To account for cuts we suggest purchased 10% overage. More rooms does have the potential for more waste due to cutting, but you can mitigate much of this loss with proper planning. With a little bit of measuring you can use the cut piece from the end of your row as the starter plank on the next row.

A:  Physically you could by using an expensive “elastomeric” type waterproof membrane glue at a real flooring store. Should you? No it’s not worth it as it’s bamboo which is unstable when moisture is present.

                        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Home Legend cannot guarantee the performance of the Horizontal Toast if installed as a floating floor. HL615S is not intended to be a floating floor nor to be glued together on the tongue and grooves. Installing the floor in that manner would be a violation of the warranty. However, if you are comfortable forgoing the coverage that the warranty provides, it is possible to assemble HL615S as a floating floor with glued edges. Be sure to follow any instructions provided by the adhesive manufacturer.

A:  Thank you for your question. Bamboo products come primarily in either a solid or engineered (strand-woven) construction. The Janka rating between bamboo products can differ drastically based on the type of plank. Solid bamboo planks tend to have a lower Janka rating than their engineered counterparts.

A:  It is certainly softer than some other brands. I assume it is related to the resin composition.

A:  Ideally, this bamboo flooring does not need glue. It clicks in place and makes a solid joint. Padding must be used like "floor Mufler". If you really need to use glue, then any wood glue will work.

A:  Although I did not glue the flooring down, (I nailed it through the tongue like traditional flooring), I would imagine that it can be glued down. Make sure you use a flexible adhesive so the bamboo can move.
