Q:Why is the home depot energy usage description incorrect?
The Home Depot product description says 26 kwh energy used per year. While the user manual says 1.91 kwh per DAY. 1.91 x 365 = 697 kwh per year, making this one of the least energy efficient freezers on the market! Most freezers in this size category use about 250 kwh/year...

A: You are correct that the listing on HD website is incorrect. The yellow energy consumption placard that came inside the unit showed that this unit is on the far right (higher end) of the spectrum. I have not noticed any change in my power bill, though, as I replaced a 10+ yr old unit with this one.

A: I have had 2 igloos, a 9cu.ft and a 10.6 cu.ft, in my detached garage since 2018 and 2016 respectively. They even came through the storm of 2021 with no power for 6 days. I did not loose ant food. The 5.6 in the pantry died from the power surge along with the washing machine and refrigerator.
