A:  No, mine does not make this noise. recently installed 3 but had to change the fill valve in 1. i recommend having kohler send the part. they are pretty good about replacing faulty parts for new products.

When installing, be sure to slide the seat as far forward as possible and the black hinge mounts should have the + facing the front of the toilet. Due to the ornate tank cover, ensure the tank is level and is installed as far back as possible when attaching to the bowl. The AquaPiston canister flush valve is a gravity flush; however, it has a high velocity as the water rushes in quickly from all sides. It is a little noisier than the old style of flush valve with a flapper in which the water swirls around the bowl before exiting. The canister flush is a more powerful flush as well. A:  I would say it is either the same or a bit less. It is "quicker" because so much less water is used. I was worried about this, but have found that it is not a problem. It appears to be quite efficient. Hope this helps!
