Q:Like some of the negative reviews have said, the very first time I plugged this unit into wall electric outlet, my unit went straight into "Lb" (low battery) indicator mode and beeps once every minute. Does this mean my battery is now permanently dead? I followed the instructions and removed the red cap before activating it for the first time. Did I get a lemon or were the directions not clear like some reviewers have said?

A:  Apparently the battery is bad . If you purchased it recently and have the receipt I would take it back for an exchange.

A:  Hello edd13chen, Thanks for reaching out. Make sure the button above the plug in prongs is pushed in flat when you plug it in. this is what activates the battery.

Q:Is this also a smoke detector

    Answer This Question

    A:  No, only carbon monoxide.

    by|Jul 13, 2021

A:  Sorry no, this unit is only a carbon monoxide detector.

    by|Jul 13, 2021

A:  Hello. No, this is just a carbon monoxide alarm. A smoke detector can not be plugged into a wall socket as a smoke detector has to be on the ceiling or on the wall within a foot of the ceiling.

Q:Is the Voice Alarm male or female and can you adjust the volume? Can you change the tone, pitch or gender of the voice alarm? My son has autism and doesn’t tolerate most female voices well. He also doesn’t tolerate loud, high pitched or shrill alarms, consequently, we have no CO or fire alarms in our home.

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello CSue, Thanks for reaching out. The volume cannot be adjusted on this unit. We can appreciate the difficulties with the alarms by your family. Unfortunately, these have to comply with UL regulations. This information, however, will be given to new product development.

      by|Mar 24, 2021

A:  Sorry, the voice on this alarm is female and the tone, volume, pitch and gender are not adjustable on this alarm. This alarm also emits loud beeps as part of signaling and alarm and also when the "test" switch is pressed on the front of the alarm. Understand that alarms can be very scary for everyone, but it is better to be warned about a potential life treating danger in your home or business etc. and be allowed time to move to a safe location outside of your home then it is to possibly perish in your home without much of a chance or notice or warning. Carbon monoxide as you know is an odorless gas that can be a silent killer if it reaches unsafe levels in your home.

A:  Im thinking yes, but you may want to ask/write the company this question. It does plug into outlet so MIGHT work plugging it into an extension cord??

        by|Jun 2, 2021

A:  Hello Teen, It is recommended that the unit be plugged into an outlet to insure that it is getting electricity all the time.

          by|Feb 15, 2021

A:  I don't know why it couldn't be but don't know why you would want to

            by|Feb 14, 2021

A:  I don't see why not. There is a two prong electrical plug on the back and which should fit any standard US extension cord. The unit would probably cover multiple outlets on a power strip, though. Just be sure you don't mistakenly unplug that extension cord and think you're monitored when you're really not. And make sure the unit is placed where there is normal air flow. and not hidden say, under the sofa which might impair CO detection.

A:  Hello customer, There should be a date of manufacturing on the back side of the unit. Please call Kidde support at 1-800-880-6788 Open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM EST Saturday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST. They're the experts and will be able to assist. Thank you.

A:  Go to their web site and have the serial number ready. You can chat with them and they should be able to tell you the date of manufacture. From that you should be able to determine when you purchased and installed your detector.

A:  CO higher than 10ppm detected.

              by|Jul 8, 2020

A:  Hello Boo, PCO means that the detector had a reading of >100 PPM at some point. check the peak level to see the highest reading and then reset. If this happens again, or if anyone is experiencing symptoms you need to have the home checked immediately.

                  Answer This Question

A:  I think it can but would be best plugged int wall outlet.

                  by|Nov 10, 2019

A:  Yes, but the power strip should be securely mounted to a vertical surface either horizontally or vertically. This is to keep the carbon monoxide detector in an upright position to help prevent any dust, dirt, debris or other objects from falling or accumulating on the front vent of the carbon monoxide detector which can prevent the carbon monoxide detector from being able to reliably detect carbon monoxide in a room it is installed in. I.e. don't plug the carbon detector into an outlet that is on a flat surface. I have a carbon monoxide detector plugged into a 6 outlet adapter plugged into an outlet to have more accessible outlets from the same outlet that the detector is plugged into. The carbon monoxide detector also needs to be installed in a suitable location at least 5 feet away from heating or cooking appliances, not near vents, flues, chimneys or any forced/unforced air ventilation openings, and not near doors, ceiling fans, windows or areas directly exposed to the weather, etc.

A:  It is possible, but it is quite large. Had one plugged into a 4 outlet square wall plug.

                    by|Nov 10, 2019

A:  No cannot be installed on a power strip needs to be installed directly to a wall socket.

A:  Hello Cord, No, we don't recommend any of our alarms in a garage due to the temperature fluctuations and debris.

                      by|Jul 23, 2019

A:  operating temperature range is 40F - 100Fso keep that in mind but also if your car is idled in the garage you might get a reaction but that would be a real world test of the unit although a potential annoynce

A:  All 3 units rotate 90 degrees. Complaining customer must have tried a 360 degree rotation, ie., if you change orientation rotating the unit clockwise, you can only rotate counterclockwise the next time.

A:  I just check mine and they rotate 90 degrees to the left if your looking at the unit plugged in the wall. Great product and test often. The nite light option is good for by kids rooms and bathrooms. Have one by every bedroom and the mechanical room. No complaints. One of those products I hope I never have to use but nice to have.
