A:  yes , I use it often with my steaks or tenderloin- sear it first to seal in the juices and then finish it out on the grill-- my wife likes hers charded on the outside and it works great

A:  Yes, the side burner is for searing. But the main part also seals and puts down grill marks. Just not as hot as the side sear. We are very happy with this unit. And we replaced a Weber!

A:  Yes. This grill has the searing burner on the right side outside of the main grilling area where there Is typically a shelf or a side burner. So instead of a side burner, this grill has a searing burner there. My previous grill had a searing burner inside the grill alongside the regular burners and invariably the searing burner (which I did not use too often) would collect a fair amount of grease when cooking on the regular burners next to the searing burner. That grill also had a side burner that I rarely used. So this KitchenAid grill having the searing burner on the right side is a much better configuration for me.

A:  It doesn’t have a sear burner but it gets hot enough to sear meat then lower the temp for cooking.

A:  yes... need to find the correct measurements. I utilized my previous Swiss Grill rotisserie and it works fine but again measurement is critical.
