Answer This Question
A: You know you need a slim GFCI if you have a really hard time or are completely unable to pack all those wires behind it in the box. If you are just replacing an old standard GFCI you probably don't need a slim one, but it will work just fine.
by|Oct 7, 2023
A: Slim just means that the GFCI is made in a slim form factor that allows for more room in the wall box it is installed in.

Q:Not sure if 20 amp or 15 amp service but there are 4 wires 2 white and 2 black can you explain or show which gfi will work for me?

Answer This Question
A: Well first u need a tester to determine which black wire is hot (has about 120 volts on it) . You can measure this from that wire to the bare wire. Then find the white wire that goes with that black wire. Most of the times you see the insulated jacket of the romex entering the box to determine that pair of wires. Those 2 wires are your feed or line set of wires. Once you have determined which black wire is hot turn off the breaker in the panel. The feed or line set are the pair of wires bringing the power into your outlet box. If you look at the back of the GFCI OUTLET you will see one set of screws labeled LINE AND THE OTHER SET LABLED LOAD. Connect your line black wire to the gold screw across from the word line and the white wire of that pair to the silver screw across from the word line. Repeat the same process for the other pair of black n white wires but they will go on the load side or the other gold n silver screws on the outlet. Finally connect the bare wire to the green screw this is the ground wire. Turn breaker back on hit test button on outlet , reset button !!!! Your done grab a cold corona n relax !!!
