A:  You can manually control. I believe it turns off automatic control for 15 mins.

A:  Yes, the sensor is also a pushbutton switch. Push once to turn on for 15min, or if on push once to turn off.

A:  Yes, you can manually turn it on but, it will not continue to run if it doesn’t detect moisture. It will shut off if no moisture is detected in a couple of minutes.

A:  Once installed, the switch may be activated manually by depressing the bottom tab where the fan symbol is. If left “on”, the switch will remain on for the set time selected at installation. The switch may also be deactivated by depressing the tab again.

Q:Can this work for a light/fan combo exhaust?

                  Answer This Question

A:  It applies to only on circuit. If the sensor detects moisture/humidity the light would come on with the fan, if it was wired together. I suppose you could wire it together if that was the desired outcome. We have ours wired directly to the fan and the light is wired separately.

                  by|Nov 2, 2022

A:  Yes, but it will activate both the light and fan at the same time.

Q:I had my electrician install one of these and the little green light at the bottom is ON when it the fan is off, but when I press it on the light goes OFF... this is a bit counterintuitive as I'd expect the light to go on when the fan goes on. Did my electrician do something wrong or is this how it's supposed to work?

A:  That's have Leviton works.....I have fan controllers and light switches and they all have an "indicator light" at the bottom. The light is on when it's off but off when it's on. A:  That is the normal operation for the switch. I’m pretty sure the intention is to provide a point of light as a “guide” to find the switch when the fan is off. I have a programmable timer switch set up in our kitchen that has an indicator light that operates the way you describe - on when the lights are on, off when the lights are off. I really don’t like it because late in the evening it will shut off the room lights and it is hard to find the switch in the dark to turn it back on. I always thought that light scheme would be best for remote lights or equipment that can’t be seen or heard from the switch position, that way you could see that the devices are on without having to go check.

Q:Since no one makes a fan humidity switch in any colors beyond white or off-white, has anyone tried to paint the button part to match the switchplates? From the photos it appears the whole exposed portion except for the vapor sensing part comes off anyway, so I'm guessing this should be pretty easy to paint that and pop it back on. Thoughts?

                      Answer This Question

A:  I have not attempted to paint the faceplate and/or button, but it appears to me that it can be spray-painted. The sensor portion is easily removed by finger, and snapped back onto position in the center of the surface plate without using tools, after the two screws holding the surface plate are removed.

A:  I suppose you could do that but would not be saying yes due to liability concerns.

It will not be the same as having a fully black unit but closer with the black faceplate. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-1-Gang-Decora-Plus-Wallplate-Screwless-Snap-On-Mount-Black-80301-E/303096098 Good luck!

A:  I have one of these units in my bathroom above a hand towel rack. If the towel hanging there is damp the switch will sometimes turn on the vent fan. Works on humid air no matter where it comes from.

A:  I had a similar issue occur after I installed it. I reviewed the instructions (several times I recall) and finally got the controller to work correctly to my situation. It took several attempts but I finally got it. There's two settings for humidity. I turned one off and set the other to "50%". My device will turn on once the humidity in the room hits the 50% level. The fan will then run for the 20 minutes.

Q:How fast is it supposed to respond to an increase in humidity? I understand that there is a built-in delay and the sensor will be triggered only if it detects a humidity increase for some number of minutes. How long is that delay? I'm not sure if my device is improperly adjusted, defective, or if I'm just not waiting long enough for it to come on.

A:  I’ve never been suspect of mine, seems to respond really well to the shower use. In fact, it will run sans shower at times, which I attribute to it getting sticky upstairs given I have it dialed up to the highest sensitivity. Have never tried to confirm.

A:  It seems that the device is meant to be installed vertically but you could install it sideways. It's not very accurate if installed too far away from the shower if in a larger bathroom so don't expect it to be better if it were sideways.
