      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for contacting Lutron Support! The DVFSQ-LFH is designed to control a standard 3-speed ceiling fan which only utilizes pull-chains to adjust its speeds. If the fan includes its own remote or wall control, they typically use a proprietary control technology and would likely be incompatible with a third-party fan speed control. As always, Lutron would suggest reaching out to your fan manufacturer to verify if this control would be compatible with their fan.

A:  Hi Ching, you dont say what Minka Aire fan you have. Lots have dc motors & connections from power supply only use a black, white, green/bare wires if you fan has that no this dimmer will not work. Minka does make wall mounted controls for some of there fans. If your fan came with a remote control the dimmer will likely not work. But seeing as you did not say what model fan you have best to call Minka at 1-800-307-3267 and talk to them. But make sure you give them model numbers

          Answer This Question

A:  The DVFSQ-LF is a single pole control rated for 1 ceiling paddle fan up to 1.5 amps and 1 amp of LED (2 amps if incandescent). Lutron does not recommend this control for DC fan motors. Please reach out to our Support Team at support@Lutron.com or by phone at 1 (844) 588-7661 for additional assistance.

Q:Does this product work with bathroom exhaust fans? Looking to put the bathroom lights on the paddle and the exhaust fan on the slider, small bathroom, only room for 1 gang sized wall switch

            Answer This Question

A:  I think it would work for that, but you won't be able to use the exhaust fan without the light being on. The rocker switch has to be on for the dimmer to receive power as well. If you'd like to run them independently of each other, I think you'll have to use the Lutron Maestro switch.

            by|Aug 27, 2020

A:  Lutron does not recommend using the DVFSQ-LF on a bathroom exhaust fan as this fan/light control is not intended for use with DC motors, which exhaust fans typically are. The DVFSQ-LF is intended for 3 speed paddle-style ceiling fans that utilize a pull-chain for speed selection.

A:  No this dimmer will only control a light fixture and can't be used for a fan. Look in the aisle with all the light fixtures at home depot and the normally have a special section with switches especially designed for fans

A:  The DVFSQ-LF does not have an internal light to it. It is compatible with LEDs, though. The DVFSQ-LF will switch the LED on and off, but will not dim it.

A:  Lutron does not recommend using the DVFSQ-LF for the application you have described. Instead, for a fan only control, Lutron suggests the DVFSQ-F. You can find the install guide for it here: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/0301683.pdf.

A:  Hi Alec, No that will not work. You need Lutron Diva Internet #300986866 Model # DVFSQ-F-WH for the fan on/off and speed control and you can use the Model# DVCL-153PR-WH you were going to use or you can use just one of the Lutron MACL-LFQH-WH that will do both things you want. Just make sure the fan you are working with can be wired the way you want. As lots of the new fans will not work with this combo

A:  Currently, there isn't a single pole fan/light device that is also compatible with home integration. Lutron has the stand-alone MACL-LFQ that is a fan/light combination device. Additionally, there is the Caseta Wireless series PD-FSQN fan control and PD-6WCL dimmer. These Caseta devices would require a 2-gang wallbox for installation. With the Caseta Smart Bridge, these could be integrated with Alexa.
