A:  Plastic mountings seemed adequate for this application.

A:  The mountings are plastic but I would not characterize them as poor quality. You need to be sure you have the bar in the location you want it because once you press fit the metal bracket to the plastic mounting, it will be very hard to remove because of the design.

A:  No, they have not changed to metal. But I would not consider the plastic mountings poor quality. They are quite sturdy, should hold a great number of towels, and are not visible when fully installed as the metal towel bar ends cover them completely.

A:  The mounting bracket is still made of plastic, but I found them very easy to install and easy to remove.

Moen’s Pro+Fit installation system eliminates the need for set screws and allows the product to “click” into place onto the non-metallic mounting post. A:  There's a little plastic piece on the bottom--insert a flat screwdriver tip and it the decorative piece will pop off. However, you'll have a pretty big hole because of the wall anchor.

A:  Hello Sjk211. Thank you so much for your interest in Moen products. The Moen Eva 24” towel bar uses our Pro-Fit installation system. The decorative cover snaps onto the hardware. To remove the product you will need a small screwdriver. You will insert this into the hole at the bottom of the decorative cover. While pushing up into the hole you use your other hand to unsnap the cover from the hardware. A:  Use a flat blade screwdriver to depress the locking tab at the bottom of the mount. Then carefully pull the mount straight off the wall mounted plastic portion.

A:  If you think that you may want to remove the moley anchor, use a different type of sheet rock anchor that is removable. Their are several other options that can be removed from the sheet rock w\o leaving a large hole. They will leave a hole that will need to be filled though.

A:  you have to insert a small tip screwdriver in the indent at the bottom of the wall mount and twist slowly until the metal separates from the plastic wall fastener.

A:  You could go to the Moen website and check for replacement parts

A:  Yes, the current product uses this same design and take it from me - it's a nightmare. I properly installed two racks, but one has loosened over time and there is no easy way to repair or replace it without significant damage to the dry wall. An ill-conceived installation system if you ask me.

A:  I believe it should be okay. I think a review mentions that someone has shortened the length to fit their space.

A:  It would depend on the door. The mount comes with a single hollow wall anchor, but it accommodates up to three screws (in a horizontal row). You would need to use other hardware on a hollow-core door. Check with your local hardware store to see what they can provide.

A:  I, too, wanted to install this on a hollow door. Unfortunately, the door I have was not deep enough to accept the lag bolt that comes with the hook. You could possibly pre-mount one or more hooks on a finished 1" x 4" x 33" oak board (assuming your door is 36"), then using wood screws at each end of the 33" board, screw it onto your door, into the door's side rails (solid frame). Just a thought...

A:  Yes, but the door will flex quite a bit if you hang anything heavy on it. And you would need your own anchor as the anchor with the hook will probably not work very well on the thin hollow core door.

A:  Yes, I installed two on my bathroom closet doors, you just have to use a large wood screw and make sure the post is aligned properly. I also used super glue to make sure the hook adheres to the post.
