A:  The wood structure should carry the weight with this clip. It is only for mostly wind and depends on the design. I used mine for a pergola, top sun screen with 4x6 x 12'

Q:where can i get a metal pole aprox. eight feet long to support floor beams?

Answer This Question

A:  The problem you are trying to fix should be solved with a different solution. There is a reason the floor is moving or the pedestals are failing.

Q:Can these brackets be bent a few degrees either way, or are they too thick? My pergola rafters will have a 1 pitch (1" drop for 12" run) and they will not lay on the beam at 90 degrees.

      Answer This Question

A:  They are very heavy duty. They are coated so one would need to be careful if you do try to bend one. I would say you could if your careful and strong.

      by|May 5, 2023

A:  Too strong to bend more that a couple of degrees

        by|Jun 18, 2019

A:  They are fairly rigid, but can be bent. A vice would make the job easier.

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  These brackets are painted so if you stuck them in a vise you might be able to bend them but risk cracking the coating. You could always buy a can of flat black and repaint them though.

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes, they will bend a little bit to account for the angle.

              by|Oct 2, 2018

A:  Yes, it is possible to bend these metal brackets.

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  Probably depending on how much you bend them the paint might crack

                  by|May 7, 2019

A:  It’s too hard but nothing is impossible because it’s thick, good luck

                    by|May 21, 2023

A:  The 2 in. Rafter Clip are too thick to be bent and are designed to accommodate a 90 degree only. In order to use these connectors you will have to place them on the wide side of your rafter. So the rafter clip will rest on the 2 in. part of the header and fasten into the wide part of your rafter. Sandwich your rafter with 2 rafter clips (One on each side of your rafter).

A:  I would review the plans and pictures on the web site. Some common sense is needed. On mine I have 1- 12’ -4”x6” Brown treated resting on 4-2x8’s (paired upon 6x6 post) I also used the larger rafter clip on those. (Larger and more fastners)

                            by|May 5, 2023

A:  The number of rafter clips required depends on the structure and other variables in your area. Often, there will be at least one rafter clip attached to the rafter on each side of the beam the rafter is resting on. We suggest consulting a local construction professional in your area for a reliable and specific recommendation on necessary brackets for your structure.

A:  these are thick enough that you should not get a lot of deformation when tightening a bolt down through it. The holes are 7/16", 5/16" and the slots are 1/4"

A:  Either Timber Bolt works with Item #56613 - Butt Joint Flush - the size differential refers to the thickness of the shaft that is inside the wood. Thanks, OZCO

Q:I'm building a pergola and I'm limited to 4-inch thick because I purchased and installed the wrong type of concrete anchors when my patio was poured (doh!). I would like to use this product, but the specifications indicate that the compatible post size is 6x6 inches. Is it acceptable to use this product on 4x6 inch posts.
