A: Yes, I used them on the ceiling. I did put extra screws in the sheetrock into the studs for extra strength, especially if the sheetrock was originally hung with nails.

The answer is Yes, but it would need to be sealed.
The problem is that sealing will cause the brick surface to breakout in chunks. Unsealed will grow mold and mildew, also effective cleaners will eat up the brick.
You would be happier with a ceramic brick tile like this:
