          Q:How fragrant is this rose?

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi Barry - Thanks for asking! At Last has highly fragrant, fully-petaled soft orange blossoms from summer through fall. Handsome, glossy foliage and a vigorous, rounded habit make it ideal for use in the landscape or the flower garden. It is disease-resistant and low maintenance. Shipping conditions can sometimes give the At Last Rose yellow blooms. The plant is still healthy, and new blooms once planted will be the regular, gorgeous orange shade. Q:What time of year is best to plant a PROVEN WINNERS 1 Gal. At Last Rose (Rosa) Live Shrub outdoors?

            Answer This Question

A:  Hi Suzzanne - Thanks for asking! Our plants have already been acclimated to the outdoors and will be happiest in the ground as soon as possible. There is no need to wait to get your hands dirty! Planting early in the mornings or late in the evenings when the air tends to be cooler and the sun less intense. Try to avoid the midday sun, which is the hottest and highest in the sky. e sure to deeply water daily and consistently for the first week (sometimes longer- your plants will tell you!) to make sure the heat of the summer does not deter it from establishing its healthy, glorious roots. When watering, be sure to water the base of the plant. That will help keep the leaves dry and prevent fungal infections. Also, water in the morning so the leaves can dry out during the day and before the temperature drops at night. If you choose to wait for cooler temps, be sure to allow 6 weeks prior to your predicted first fall frost to allow time for root development. A:  Yes fragrant. I just planted last year. Regrowth this year is very slow. There are finally a few buds. Flowers are small but pretty. I picked this rose because it is harder in my zone. I'm happy it has come back because before I would have to buy a new rose every year.

A:  The flowers are mildly fragrant and I see a few butterflies attracted to it. The blooms are regular size.

A:  I would say that the At Last roses are mildly fragrant They have a pleasant aroma, but not strong like say an American Beauty climbing rose. My At Last bush is about two years old, and it is now about two feet high and two and a half feet in diameter. It does attract bees, but I have never seen a butterfly or a humming bird near it. The blooms when fully opened are about three inches in diameter. It has pink and ivory to yellow petals, and it is really lovely in flower arrangements.
