    Answer This Question

A:  I built roughly 24 x 24 x 24 pillars for end supports for benches but used Construction Adhesive to bind the blocks together. This was around 2 yrs ago and the are still standing securely. I have no experience using these blocks with mortar.

    by|Feb 1, 2019

      A:  Probably would work.

      by|Feb 2, 2019

A:  It is not designed for that, however, the rumblestone is a very versatile product that we use for all kinds of backyard elements and kits. While we don’t have specific data regarding a pedestal table, if you’re using it for the base only, I wouldn’t hesitate. I hope this helps! Thank you for your inquiry!

Q:How many of these and minis to make a circle with an outside diameter of 55”?

          Answer This Question

A:  I did a 6’ diameter fire pit and the blocks work very well. The answer for your 55” fire pit is 17 large blocks. Take away one large block for every 4 mini blocks used.

A:  Stick66, I have a great fire pit that I made myself from Home Depot concrete block.. Mine is 45" in diameter and uses 12 "Trap" shaped blocks, plus 12 2" rectangular shaped blocks between every Trap block. I looks great and works very well. For 55 inches, I would just lay out 1 layer of 14 and see if that is the right size, if not, just add a block at a time until you get exactly what you want. OR, draw a circle the size you want and just add blocks until you fill that circle. It is really simple. We use our fire pit often for roasting marsh mellows and hot dogs when the grand kids are here and they love it. It is simple to do once you get the first row set. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we do our fire pit.

Q:Does the manufacturer make wall caps? I am building a tree ring with 7 feet radius and looking for capstones that match the cafe color. I did see rectangular shaped stones in cafe and with size 1.75Hx7Wx10.25D, but these will need to be cut to fit the ring shaped wall.

                Answer This Question

A:  there are pavers that can be used as a cap. There are several types in each color.

                by|Mar 3, 2019

A:  The manufacturer does make caps, just none in the rumblestone category. The reason for this is because that block is a solid top where you can flip flop back to front to make a straight line without gaps. I've had contractors use either the pavers or the rumblestone mediums to make a cap, so that could be an option. Thank you for your inquiry!

A:  Diameter x 3.14 = (roughly 38 feet or 456 inches) Your outer edge of the bricks are 10.25" each (roughly) 456 / 10.25 = 44.5 so roughly 44 traps (outer edge being 10.25" each) per layer So you'd need at least 88 bricks. You can use these to make the circle but in keeping the outer edges together to make a circle that big you're going to have gaps on the interior of each brick.. only the outer edge will touch. In this case you could add their rectangular bricks. The outer edges are the same but they sit flush with each brick. You'll have to play around with how you want the bricks to be. Mine uses 12 of each type of brick to make a perfectly flush circle.. but mine is only about 7 feet in diameter. So you'll have to figure out how to work your bricks to make it 12 feet. But the outer edge is what matters to make it that size.. and you'll need at least 44 bricks per layer to do it if they're this sized brick.

Q:Like many people, I am looking to use these for a fire pit. However I'm concerned about them not being firebricks and would rather not use a metal insert. The article found at http://blog.homedepot.com/build-paver-patio-built-fire-pit/ implies that you could coat the inside of the pit with a fire cement instead. Would this be sufficient?

A:  That is correct. These block are not fire rated but are used in firepits regularly without issue. They will crack or change color over time if there is no refractory cement applied.

A:  I've used these for several fire pits. As long as you don't mortar the joints and just use a contractor adhesive the blocks will not crack. They just need room to expand and contract.

A:  I have ours set up and it's roughly 7'.. slightly larger. I have 12 of these traps and to make it look like a filled in circle you use 12 of the rectangle traps. RumbleStone Large 3.5 in. x 10.5 in. x 7 in. You can use the trapezoid shaped ones throughout but their edges won't sit flush with each other on a circle this big as you can see.

                              by|May 5, 2023

A:  You probably wouldn't get out to 7' if you only used this stone. To enlarge your diameter you can alternate the trapezoid shaped stones with either the larger 10.5x7 rectangular stones or the 7x7 square stones (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Pavestone-RumbleStone-Large-3-5-in-x-10-5-in-x-7-in-Cafe-Concrete-Garden-Wall-Block-91969/203158384 or https://www.homedepot.com/p/Pavestone-RumbleStone-Medium-3-5-in-x-7-in-x-7-in-Cafe-Concrete-Garden-Wall-Block-91769/203158383). The 7" edges match up perfectly. I've done this to get different a different sized radius in several of our flower beds.
