Q:The bulb I'm replacing is an FL8WW for an under cabinet light. Is this the same as a F8T5 bulb

Answer This Question
A: Very close in lumens.
by|Apr 15, 2021
A: This F8T5 should work as a replacement for FL8WW although there will be a color temperature difference. This Philips lamp is a cool white 4100K where the FL8WW looks to be a warm white 3000k.

A: Beware -- I bought the 3000K version of this light bulb and it cast a yellow image under counter. It was in stark contrast to the 4100K bright white of the bulb we went back and bought at HD. Color Temperature Chart shows soft white as 3000K and bright white as 4100K.

A: 4100k color is bright, and it looks nice in under cabinet setting.

Answer This Question
A: Although there can be seen some difference in wattage meaning that the T4 lights are a bit more efficient because on average T4 bulb around the size of 2 ft T5 bulb will consume 20 watts while T5 will chew up 24 watts, the T4 bulbs will emit much less lumens. I have T5 ones, work fine.

A: T is the shape of the bulb tubular and the number is the diameter in eighths of a inch. therefore t4 is 1/2 inch diameter and t5 is 5/8 inch diameter bulb. Both are tubular.
