Q:Can I install this fan on the siding of my house since I have more exposure to the sun on the side of my house
by|Jun 14, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  I don’t believe you can’t since this particular fan is designed for rooftops & it doesn’t have the hardware included to install the panel vertically. The wires aren’t quick connecting either. However, they do sell vertical panels.

A:  These fans can defiantly be put on a roof with a ridge vent. However please note that you want the fan 3ft down from the ridge to encourage the fan to pull from below.

A:  The fan will work on its own without being plugged into an electrical outlet. The solar panel alone obviously needs sunlight to provide power to the fan, so it won't work at night or if you have an extended period of cloudy weather. That's the nice thing about the auxiliary power from an electrical outlet: no matter what the light conditions, the fan will operate whenever the temp reaches the set threshold, which I think is something like 75-80 degrees, but I'm not exactly sure of those values. Anyway, if you can provide a plug-in outlet, even with an extension cord, you will get more consistent air flow from the fan. Hope that helps.

                        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Brian, It'll do just fine during hurricanes, and if you want added security you can maybe try just angling the solar panel so that it is more flush with the roof. I've heard stories of houses collapsing and the roof mount still being intact in that portion of the house.
