Answer This Question

A:  I can't tell you if it is any quieter than your current vacuum (it's a vacuum, they're all noisy!), but you can buy a muffler for it which helps a bit (SKU # 1000146899). Also,I did buy the car cleaning kit (SKU # 1000527675) and yes it does fit.

A:  Hello MarkStrewgs, Thank you for your inquiry. This 10-gallon Stainless Steel is rated 85 dB. The 14-gallon unit you own is quieter compared to this. Likewise, yes the auto detailing kit will fir this particular model. A:  Hello Hugley, Thank you for your inquiry about our products. You can buy the filters at Home Depot stores or online at www.homedepot.com or store.ridgid.com. We have different filters for different jobs. For standard or typical basement or garage dirt, you can use the VF4000. For fine dust, such as drywall or cement dust, you must have the VF5000. We also have a filter made of HEPA rated material known as VF6000. This filter is best recommended for picking up pollens and allergens. Lastly, we have VF7000 foam filter specifically designed only for liquid pick-ups or water-borne debris. If you have further questions or concerns, you may call Customer Service at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time or email us at info@ridgidvacs.com Thank you, RIDGID Customer Support

Q:The wheels won’t seem to click in. Do I not just turn it upside down and push down on the wheels until they click? Only one would click down and it’s loose.

A:  Hello Justinb99, Thanks for writing a review and we’re sorry to have learned about your difficulties in assembling the vac. On the bottom of the caddy, there are two holes. This is where the wheels should go into. I suggest you try to assemble the caster to the caddy first before attaching the foot to the bottom of the drum. This would allow you to apply more pressure when pressing it together. You need to insert the metal stem of caster wheel into the center hole and push and twist it on it until it snaps all the way inside the socket. You will hear a popping sound as a sign that the caster is already locked in place. You can also use a rubber mallet to assemble the caster to the foot. If you have questions or concerns, you may call our Customer Service at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time or send us an email at info@ridgidvacs.com and we'll be glad to assist you. A:  Yes. They are supposed to click in, mine were very hard to get in and had to tap in with a hammer CAREFULLY without damaging wheel or holder. They were tight then. Not ideal.

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi Creekbank, Thanks for your inquiry. When picking up small amounts of liquid the filter may be left in place. When picking up large amounts of liquid we recommend that the filter be removed. If the filter is not removed it will become saturated and misting may appear in the exhaust. When the liquid in the drum reaches a predetermined level, the float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off airflow. You will know that the float has risen because Vac airflow ceases and the motor noise will become higher in pitch, due to increased motor speed. When this happens, turn off the Vac, unplug the power cord, and empty the drum. After using the Vac to pick up liquids, the filter must be dried to avoid possible mildew and damage to the filter. We also offer the VF7000 wet filter for high volume liquid pick-up. This filter adds protection for your vacuum during wet pick-up by keeping water-borne debris out of the motor. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our customer service at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time or email us at info@ridgidvacs.com and we'll be glad to assist you. A:  Simply open the lid and remove any paper filter. i.e. bag or RIDGID type. If you have a foam filter, you can leave it however, I chose to remove it also.

A:  Remove the paper filter and substitute the foam filter in its place. That's all.

A:  The Ridgid shop vac weights about 23 Lbs. Just the motor head weights about 12 Lbs. I do not know of a shop vac with a motor on the bottom. One if the home style canister vac would have a removable bag that may work for you. We have a Kenmore that is easy to empty, that my wife uses. Dave

A:  I am experiencing the same issue. I was using it on carpet and thought it was just static electricity. I have had my vacuum for over a year and this is the first time I noticed it.

                                        by|Feb 22, 2021

A:  Exchanging the vacuum would likely not help in this case. I suspect the electric shock you experience occurs after you've used the vacuum cleaner to pick up wood chips or dust. Static electricity builds up during the work when all the debris travels through the plastic pipe and accumulates on the metal tank. The static transfers to you when you touch the container. Probably the easiest way to get rid of the static would be to drill a small hole somewhere close to the top of the stainless tank. Close to top, especially if you pick up water with that vacuum from time to time. Then to attach a length of stripped Cu electrical wire with a metal screw or nut/bolt on one end. Tape the bare wire so it has good contact from top to bottom of tank. The wire should be long enough so that a few inches is able to wipe on the ground. This will give an escape path for the static. Best regards.
