Answer This Question
A: Thanks, great question, you need to leave about 2 to 3 inches on the top side of the unit being that is where the unit is drawing in the air. The sides are not as critical as the top, and the bottom should be free of obstructions by approximately 12 inches due to the air coming out of the bottom front portion. We highly recommend having the unit mounted minimal 6 feet up the wall due to the air flow coming from the bottom front of the unit for maximum airflow. Also keep in mind these units are sized by sqft, and the 24,000 Btu is good for up to 1200 sqft.

A: Based on the way my unit is installed, I would suggest a space of 3 feet from the ceiling and have ample room on the sides. I hope this helps.

Q:can this be installed by home depot workers?

A: My grandson and I installed this in about 6 hours. He is licensed to install A/C units, but this was the first of this kind for him to install. We covered the outside hoses with sheet metal matching the existing house and everything looks "first class" outside and inside. We installed it in the Spring so we have used both heat and air and are very happy with the unit. It does require some work and figuring on the inside to get hoses passed through a small hole without ripping insulation from them, leveling and allowing enough room at top to drop down in place. We were working with 10" ceiling. But, are very happy with results.
Home Depot Workers could install this unit.

Q:What is the minimum operating temperature that this unit will operate to in the winter

Answer This Question
A: The minimum outside air intake in the heating mode is 4°F. Furthermore, the unit will start loosing its efficiency around 15°F.

A: While there is no minimum a heat pump will reach a point where it is no longer effective. You can expect fairly good operation down to about freezing 32 F while in the twenties it will probably run continuously and the air coming out will not be very warm but will still "take the chill off". Once the outside temp is in the teens don't expect much at all. I would suggest that if you have a number of days below freezing that you have some kind of backup heating. I'm in Arizona and it hardly ever drops into the 30's. In the normal 40 degree winter temps the unit works great.

A: Probably 60 degrees. That's pretty much the minimum for all A.C. units

A: I would not expect the unit to perform very well once the outside temperature drops below freezing. I have found that upper thirties and low forties the output into the room is still above eighty degrees. Like any heat pump, if you constantly have exterior temperatures below freezing, don't expect too much without back up strip heaters.

Q:Is the 2 wire low voltage pre wired in this unit?
by|Dec 22, 2017
3 Answers
Answer This Question
A: You must connect four wires at both ends.
by|May 5, 2023
A: No, the wire is supplied but you must connect both ends. There are four wires, two for the 120 volts supplied to the indoor unit from the outside unit and a ground wire and a signal wire. Diagrams in the booklet make this very easy.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Dear Ryan
Given the different configurations available the low voltage wire is not pre wired, but is easily installed.
Thank you
