Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out, Leon! The Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Professional Floor Coating Kit contains two pouches of decorative chips. If wanting more, the Rust-Oleum Decorative Color Chips in Mocha would be the closest match. We would recommend mixing all the chips together prior to application.

Q:Can I use this over laminate flooring?

Answer This Question
A: Happy to help, Carson. Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating can only be applied to indoor concrete floors, such as garage floors, it cannot be applied to laminate flooring. We do have a great product for refreshing indoor laminate flooring, Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating System. This 2-step system consists of a Base Coat (which is the color) and a Clear Top Coat.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out! We recommend applying our EpoxyShield Premium Clear over the surface to protect the surface. After the EpoxyShield has dried, be sure to sweep the floor to remove any loose decorative chips from the surface, prior to applying the clear coat. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-EpoxyShield-90-oz-Clear-High-Gloss-2-Part-Epoxy-Interior-Low-VOC-Premium-Concrete-Garage-Floor-Paint-Top-Coat-Kit-365188/314107317 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Q:Can old epoxy floor be prepped with Recoat Primer?
by|Sep 6, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Happy to help. When applying Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating over previously coated floors, first remove any loose and peeling paint with a wire brush or sandpaper. Next, wash the floor with a good cleaner degreaser to remove any dirt and grime, as well as all grease and oil stains, rinse and allow to dry. When the floor is dry, prime using Rust-Oleum Concrete & Garage Recoat Primer. Allow the primer to dry for at least 6 hours, but no more than 48 hours, to ensure proper adhesion of the EpoxyShield.

Q:What cleaning products can I use to clean that floor? It should be noted that I must disinfect with chlorine or Lysol. Thanks!

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out! We recommend avoiding abrasive cleaning methods with Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Professional Floor Coating, as they can damage the finish. Harsher chemicals or concentrates can damage as well, so they may need to be diluted. With any new cleaning method, we recommend applying in a test area first to ensure favorable results.

Q:What do you have to clean floor with before painting

Answer This Question
A: Happy to help, Karen, and we're glad you reached! Preparation is important with any coating, and the Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Professional Garage Floor Coating is no exception. You will want to ensure that all grease is removed by use of a degreaser. The product should also be applied over a surface that is not sealed. If a sealer is present, you will need to consider grinding the surface, or use of the Rust-Oleum Concrete & Garage Recoat Primer (#338806), to avoid grinding. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-1-gal-Concrete-and-Garage-Interior-Exterior-Recoat-Primer-338806/308295564. Q:Is this product the same as the latex EpoxyShield just in oil base? Why should someone choose this product in lieu of the 2-pack EpoxyShield?

Answer This Question
A: Happy to clear things up, Robert! Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Professional Floor Coating is a solvent-based coating. The coating offers a semi-gloss finish, verses the gloss finish of the water-based EpoxyShield. Each kit has a recommended coverage of 300-400 square feet and the two parts are in cans, and not in the pouches.
