A: Happy to help, Dede. The Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Garage Floor Coating can be applied a few inches up from the floor but not much higher as it does not adhere to vertical surfaces well and would sag. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Q:can this be used on a driveway if you also apply the clear coat

Answer This Question
A: Thanks for reaching out. Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating cannot be applied outdoors. EpoxyShield is a two-part epoxy coating that does not contain UV inhibitors, it will yellow in sunlight. For painting a concrete driveway we recommend Rust-Oleum Concrete & Garage Floor Paint. This paint is available in a variety of colors, it also has a Clear Coating that can be applied over the paint.

A: Happy to help! You'll want to keep in mind that a two-part coating will always be stronger than a one-part so when you're looking to recoat a one-part with a two-part, you may want to consider removing what you can prior to application to ensure best results. The Rust-Oleum Professional Epoxyshield Garage Floor Coating can be applied over previous coatings as long as they're clean, dry, and sound. Care should be taken to ensure that you do not have any peeling issues or adhesion concerns and a sanding with a 60 grit sandpaper should be considered prior to application if you choose not to remove the coating. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

Q:Is there a recommended clear coat that does not yellow/amber? I used the Rustoleum professional EpoxyShield on my garage about 4 years ago. Results were great, but the Rustoleum clear coat is yellowing/ambering by the garage doors most likely due to UV exposure. I am looking to epoxy coat the floor in a new pole barn and looking for a clear coat that will not yellow/amber.

Answer This Question
A: We are here to help, Mike! To ensure proper drying, Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Professional Floor Coating should only be applied when air, material, and surface temperatures are between 55-90°F. The temperatures need to stay within this range during application and curing.

Q:how would i add a vinyl decal and clearcoat over it
by|Jan 20, 2021
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out to us, Bo. If you wanted to consider use of a vinyl decal over the Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Professional Floor Coating, we'd suggest that you test the decal sticker (or pieces from the sticker) on an inconspicuous area to ensure desired results. Our concerns are more so with the application of the clear coat over the vinyl, so you'll want to also test that to be sure you're happy with those results, or that the sticker doesn't bubble/react with a clear coating over the top. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

Q:What is the difference between Dark Gray semi-gloss professional kit and Dark Gray Gloss kits. Is the professional better quality? I have a 3 car garage, 550sqft, not sure which one to buy.

Answer This Question
A: Happy to help Troy! Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Professional Floor Coating is a two-part solvent based epoxy that dries to a semi gloss finish. Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating is a two-part water based epoxy that dries to a high gloss finish. Both provide the same high quality durable surface. Two-part epoxy coatings have a pot life once mixed, the Garage Floor Kit is activated in two batches, versus one large batch with Profession, this ensures it can easily be applied within its pot life.

Q:What would happen if I applied this over linoleum in a laundry room?
by|Sep 1, 2020

Answer This Question
A: Glad you asked! Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating is designed for application to concrete floors, it cannot be applied to linoleum. For a linoleum laundry room floor we recommend Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating System. Rust-Oleum Home is ideal for refreshing ceramic & porcelain tile, concrete, hardwood, laminate, vinyl and linoleum floors.
