Q:I have 1 5" black ABS vent pipe i want to attach an AAV to. Will this attach to that ABS vent directly or do I need to buy an adapter of some sort?

    A:  A studor vent, aka air admittance valve, is used indoors and eliminates the need to run a vent stack outside, through walls and floors, etc. This recess box simply allows you to install the vent within the studs while still being able access the vent. It looks nicer than a hole in the cabinet or wall. You can also just vent inside a vanity cabinet without need for this box. Always follow install instructions on vertical distance from the p-trap. Consult a professional if needed.

      Q:Is this recess box with grille fire-rated, or could it be installed in a garage fire-wall? Or does STUDOR make one that is fire-rated? Or maybe another manufacturer? Thank you.

        Q:It's confusing saying it's a Studor brand, but also says •For Mini-Vent Redi-Vent and Tec-Vent only. If the AAV is NOT included, can you provide more info as to which AAV's will work with this set up?

        A:  It does not come with the AAV. As far as Studor products that fit, the Redi-Vent works: http://www.homedepot.com/p/STUDOR-Redi-Vent-with-ABS-Adapter-Valve-20362/203158640 The Mini Vent does as well: http://www.homedepot.com/p/STUDOR-1-1-2-in-or-2-in-PVC-Mini-Vent-Adapter-20341/202275238 and Tec-Vent which Home Depot does not carry (for very large systems)

        A:  It does NOT come with the Air Admittance Valve (AAV).The inside cap is threaded and unscrews. It fits a 1 1/2" AAV that you can just screw right in.
