Q:On a 1 phase 240 208 ac unit is the old tandem 20 amp breaker wrong and should I use a 30 amp breaker

Answer This Question
A: I would look up the installation instructions online and reference that for correct breaker sizing. Otherwise, hire an electrician who knows what they’re doing to do the job for you. Incorrectly sized breakers can lead to constant tripping and could cause a fire.

A: So just to clarify you’re voltage, it’s sounds like you’re meaning 1ph 120v 240v from power company to your electrical service and to clarify breaker type would be “2pole”’not tandem, tandem refers to 1 breaker with 2 circuits used in a singe breaker or 1pole position with in you’re electrical panel busses. AC units have a name plate and that is where you will find the proper breaker amperage ex. Max ckt 25a on a AC unit that’s 240v would mean you would install a 2pole 25a breaker. Hopefully this helps !

A: I'm not sure what a DP 4075 breaker is . That AFCI breaker will replace any standard single pole breaker . The panel is either HL or QO . The breaker must be the same style as the panel

A: Yes

A: This is not an arc fault breaker, it's just a Square D Homeline builder grade single pole breaker.
by|Apr 3, 2023
A: Hi Robert,
DP-4075 is not a reference for the catalog number of the breaker, HOM115CAFIC is a Homeline breaker and fits only in Homeline Load Center, please double check your device is Homeline before the purchase, you can contact us anytime using our chat live https://www.se.com/us/en/work/support/customer-care/contact-schneider-electric.jsp where an agent will be able to give you further assistance on this matter.

A: Some Square D breakers can be used in some Cutler Hammer or Eaton Panels.
I believe Square D Homeline breakers are not compatible with Eaton or Cutler Hammer.
You must check the panel's compatibility guide.
Generally, the same brand breakers are used in that brand of panel or loadcenter.
Always use the breakers that are listed on the labeling inside the panel cover or specification sheets for that particular panel.

A: No, Homeline breakers are only UL Listed for use in Homeline panels. Using this breaker in a Cutler-Hammer panel would be a code violation.

A: If the Square D panel is not marked Homeline it must be the only other panel Square D makes, a QO series. QO series and Homeline series breakers will physically not interchange.

A: Kathy,
HOM115GFICP is a HOM breaker and are wider than QO breakers, so cannot be exchanged between QO and HOMELINE load centers, below an FAQ with a video with the differences:

A: I’ve been in the electrical trade for 35 years and have been an electrical contractor for over 20 years. The only panels I use is Square D Homeline and I have never paid any attention to any issue number. A Homeline 115 breaker is a Homeline 115 breaker there are no variations they are all the same. I have been using Square D service equipment for 35 years and in my opinion it is number 1, I have never had any problems with Square D.
