A: Hi, and thanks for your interest in the Pro 34. While the grill will work in the rain as long as it is not coming down at too much of an angle (needs to be less than 60 degrees from vertical), care has to be taken to make sure moisture does not get into the pellet hopper or the main barrel of the grill. This is typically going to be safe when the lids are closed, but the humidity could also be a factor, and potentially result in delayed ignition when first starting the grill.
A: Hi, and thanks for your interest in the Pro 22. Pellet grills like the Pro 22 do not have a way to expose food directly to the flame. The burning wood pellets are kept in a covered firepot at the bottom of the barrel, which fills the inside of the grill with heated, smokey air. In addition, there is a drip tray directly under the grates that is also between the food and the fire.
A: Hi, and thanks for your inquiry on the Pro 22. This model Traeger is not a WiFIRE version, and isn't WiFi compatible. For grills that can wirelessly pair with the Traeger app, there are the Pro 575 and Pro 780, as well as all Timberline and Ironwood models. With the WiFIRE feature, you can keep tags on your WiFi connected grill anywhere your phone has a data signal. It also allows you to do just about anything with the grill that you can do through the controller, except turn it on. You can also download Traeger recipes to the controller and let the grill do most of the work with the Make Now option, including adjusting temperature, setting meat probe alerts and reducing the heat to keep food warm if you’re not there when the recipe is done.
A: Hi, and thanks for your question regarding the Pro 34. Traeger pellet grills are designed to burn food-quality, wood pellets only. Charcoal pellets should not be used in any Traeger grill, even if the pellet size appears to be similar. For the best results, Traeger brand pellets are made of 100% natural hardwood, providing consistent performance from bag to bag, and grill to grill.
A: Hi, and thanks for your interest in the Pro 22. All Traeger grills that use a grease bucket, such as the Pro 22, will have one included with purchase. There are also grease bucket liners available that make cleanup much easier and will extend the life of the bucket. They can be found by either searching for “Traeger bucket liner” or the part number, “BAC407”. Just be sure not to select the mini buckets, which are for the smaller, tabletop grills.
A: Hello, and thanks for your interest in the Pro 34. Traegers are designed to be an all-in-one outdoor grill, cooking both traditional BBQ items, like burgers, brats and wings, or more smoker specific foods, such as briskets, pork butts and whole chickens. The biggest difference between how a wood pellet smoker cooks food and how it is done on a gas or charcoal grill, is the method of heating. While a BBQ grill has the flame exposed, directly cooking the meat by radiant heat, smokers have the flame covered, resulting in cooking by convection. What this does is provide complete, even exposure to heated, smoked filled air without needing to flip or rotate whatever’s on the grill. You can alter the results by simply changing the temperature as well. For quicker meals that come out more like they would on a gas/charcoal grill, just set the heat higher. But if you are wanting to smoke something more slowly for maximum flavor, then keep the temperature low. For a better idea of how many different dishes can be cooked on the Pro 34, as well as detailed steps for making them, check out traeger.com/recipes for a list of over 1600 options, all specifically designed for being made with a Traeger.
A: Hi, and thanks for your inquiry on the Pro 34. Non-WiFIRE Traegers, including the Pro 34, control temperature with a dial directly below the 3 digit display on the outside of the hopper. With 10 available settings, from Smoke (approx. 185 degrees) to High (over 425 degrees), and 8 options in-between, you’ll have the range to slow smoke briskets, or reverse sear steaks, all in one versatile grill.
A: Hello, and thanks for your question regarding the Pro 22. The Pro 22 comes with a variable warranty, based on the component in question. For all grill models, check out traeger.com/service-warranty to see complete details of product coverage.
A: Hello, and thank you for your question about the Pro 22. This particular model will cook up to a 22 lb. turkey, or hold up to two 18 pounders at the same time. But if you ever want to try cooking two at once, try getting them as close together in size as possible, as this will also make cook times a lot closer as well.
A: Hello and thanks for your inquiry regarding the Pro 22. There is a small cup, or firepot, in the bottom of the grill barrel that is accessed by removing the grates and drip tray. It literally takes less than a minute to get to. Some people use a shop-vac or vacuum cleaner (with the hose attachment) to get the ash out in a matter of seconds, though you can pretty much do it in whatever way that works best for you. Just be sure that the grill is cooled down and there are no hot embers still in the ashes before cleaning.
