The vinyl tape is designed for electrical insulation. I chose it for decorative edging of 3 new shelf racks. I used a razor knife for the cuts. Very easy to apply. One repositioning for alignment re-adhered well. I suggest you position the tape just below the top of the edge, so that sliding things on and off the shelf won't mar the decor.

Perfect tape, sticks to just about everything ! No residue! Not cheap .

High quality tape that I use for several different projects, mostly electrical. However, I found it to be perfect for repairing some broken wicker on a white wicker furniture set. I trust 3M.
