I wanted to like this tape. I really did. But after applying it to mask off an area below a windowsill, it let me down. Even though I pressed the edges down HARD multiple times, it allowed paint to creep under the tape. But that's not all. When I went to remove the tape, it pulled off a section of the paint from the masked area (see pic). Now this wall was painted with two coats of Zinsser 123 Primer (each coat allowed to dry overnight), then two coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald top coat (again, each coat allowed to dry overnight). And then the tape pulls off the paint when removed. Not cool, 3M. I returned it, and Home Depot was great to listen to my tale of woe and refund my money.

This is by far the worst painters tape I’ve used. After 3 minutes, the edges come curled off and from the trim. Please buy anything else.

I painted the bedroom and wanted to painted the baseboards and trim. I ran out of painters tape, so I bought this one. I precisely taped the walls off around the room to paint the trim. After I finished the tape fell off. I won’t be buying this again. What a waste your time and money!

By using ScotchBlue, I am able to successfully do all our home painting, saving on professional painting costs. While taping off walls, woodwork or window glass takes time, it makes the painting go quickly and the sharp, clean lines that we will live with for years are well worth the effort.

HD was out of my favorite Frog Tape so I tried this "Sharp Line" assuming it would be better than the regular blue tape. It is much worse than anything I tried. Before painting and after prep taping the baseboards in just 3 rooms, the tape in the first room was coming loose and I had to re do it (See Picture). This kept on going throughout the project. Very frustrating and time consuming. It is not my first paint job and this never happened with ANY other tapes I've ever used. Cheap old brown tape would have been better.

I've never had the issue I'm having with this tape and I've been buying Scotch Blue Sharp Lines for years. This three pack isn't' sticking to anything let alone normal painted drywall. Taped off edges last night for a project and woke up to the tape coming off every spot.

Excellent for crisp sharp lines. Worked very well for my office. Very good product for creating sharp lines and designs without fear of getting paint beneath the tape.

I wouldn't spend the extra money on this. It was just like any other painters tape. It pulled off the trim more than the regular 3m tape. There is nothing that implies "sharp lines" in the actual use. I had to keep going back and pressing the tape back down.

The “sharp lines” is awful. I had more success with masking tape I used because I ran out of painters’ tape. Will be trying something else next time. This is the 2nd time I’ve tried this product.

This tape goes on easy and removes cleanly leaving crisp lines. The width is right for most painting projects

I used Scotch blue tape when I did some painting years ago, and it always bled . Now that it was time to paint again, I saw the “sharp lines edge lock” new and improved blue tape, and figured I’d give it another shot. America is the land of second chances, right? Well, this is actually WORSE than the old crap! It’s going to take hours to fix this, because I used it for intricate line work. Interestingly, the yellow Frog brand tape that I used for larger, less detailed areas performed much better. Hardly any bleed-through. The only reason I didn’t use that for the fine lines was because HD didn’t sell the smaller width. I so wish I had just ordered the narrow Frog tape and waited for it. Now I have to completely redo all of this line work. It’s worse than useless. Scotch said they’ll refund it, but that doesn’t give me back the hours of wasted time.

I used the sharp lines thinking it wouldn’t bleed through and when I took the tape off not only did it bleed through everywhere it ripped patches down to the sheet rock. Will never use again.

Somehow this tape manages to come up/not stick but then when I removed it, it stripped the paint underneath. Very frustrating since you can’t just paint over it- it will be uneven.

Remodeled my garage did 4 lines came out great with this tape very tough doesnt lossen up when painted.

Within one hour of applying to edge of door way the tape fell down to the floor. That applied to the floor molding kept curling at the ends. Never again...

This tape is excellent for doing pattern work on a wall. You don’t have to worry about the paint seeping through or ripping off existing paint.

This tape started falling off within minutes of sticking to the ceiling. I mean like 4 minutes and its completely on the floor. This tape cant even hold itself to the wall how am I supposed to use this overpriced roll of trash. Save time and money by NOT buying Scotch.

This is not only the worst painters tape I have ever used. It could quite possibly be the worst product I have ever purchased of all time. Trim was painted a week ago. Completely clean of dust and debri and smooth and the "tape" doesn't even stick a little bit. This is the most attrocious product ever. I'm completely shocked that they can even sell it as tape. Shocked. Now I get to not get any painting done and drive 40 minutes round trip back to the store, wait in line outside because of this stupid carona virus to spend more money on a product that actually does what it is supposed to. This is the last scotch product I will purchase.

I highly recommend this product if you want to protect your brush stroke by having to repaint your walls several times over. It’s sharp lines are prefect for fine details but it sticks so strongly to walls that it WILL pull your paint off. Let my images below speak for themselves. Quality product...I don’t think so.

I bought this tape because it was more expensive, so I thought it would work better. I needed sharp lines and EdgeLock to make sure paint didn't bleed onto my banister while I was repainting the railing. This product failed in every way possible. Not only did paint bleed thru the extensive taping (see photos) I had to go back and gently scrape it off the banister. Scraping paint from four corners of over 30 railings is not fun. Additionally, the multi-surface tape had such high adhesion, it ripped the top coat of polyurethane off my stained banister. I then had to buy very high grit sandpaper and re-polyurethane the entire project. A simple paint project snowballed into a 3-day project with much more out of pocket expense than expected!!!

I’m happy with this tape. I used it to paint a couple of rooms and true to the description, I used it on the baseboards and trim. It worked well enough to keep the paint separated from the other color. It came off cleanly and didn’t want to tear in half as some of the wider tapes tend to do. I till be using this on my next paint project.

I have done several paint projects, and I mean a lot. I've always used frog tape, and was advised to try this scotch blue. DO NOT use this product. It peeled paint off in several sections upon removal, there were several areas where the paint bled through on the trim, and when trying to take the tape up it kept tearing in spots. My husband will have to get a razor blade to actually get the tiny remnants off our trim. Both he and I agreed, we'll stick to frog tape from now on.

Scotch claims a 28-day removal window with no damage. I used this tape on the painted drywall to paint the bathroom baseboards. When removing the tape two days later, substantial paint and the first layer of drywall were removed as well. This is unacceptable. Do not use this product.

This tape won't even stick to itself. I spent more money on this tape because I wanted my home painting project to turn out better, but so far I'm really unimpressed with this product. The tape is peeling off shortly after applying and I've been pressing it down well. Even in places where I've overlapped ends of the tape it's come undone. It's especially ineffective on vertical surfaces and entry arches. Really disappointed with my purchase.

I'm painting the baseboards and trim in the hallway of my home black. I waited over a week before I pulled off the painter's tape. The blue tape pulled the paint off my baseboards and trim. You could see the black paint on the tape. Some experts say, I should have pulled the tape off before the paint dried. Other (like Bob Vila) said, "the tape you should have use was the 3M tape for sensitive surfaces and it is still blue, but has a orange wrapper and core." Another expert said it takes 30 days for paint to cure. The paint was still soft when I pulled it off. So this mishap could have been my bad, not the blue tape. I hope this information will help others.
