These valves are junk We’ve spent lots over the years maintaining, our 16 sprinkler valves, trying to stay with the heavy duty bronze models. These Orbits are the only ones that Home Depot started carrying a number of years ago. The problem is that after all the work to install them, within a couple of years they start to leak. So now we've been replacing them with new ones, expecting to be able to buy the rebuild kits to fix them after they're very short lifetime. The problem is they're expensive rebuild kits only include 2 tiny minor parts for this valve. And apparently you can't find the major failure item, the diaphragm, any place even on the manufacturer's website. Please don't waste your money on these and especially waste your time it takes to install print sprinkler valves.

Poor choice unless you fix the valve as described here
Good brass body and valve parts. Bad design flaw causes valve to stop working after a year or so. It is not a bad coil. Once fixed as described here they are very reliable. The problem is that after a while, the rubber diaphragm blocks a small channel in the lower brass diaphragm chamber preventing the valve from actuating. To fix, cut a 1/4" x 3/4" piece from a 5mill brass shim stock, bend it about 3/16" from one end and slide it under the rubber diaphragm to cover the channel that is near the valve actuator after you remove the SS screws holding the diaphragm chamber together. Position the bend over the edge of the brass body so that it will be clamped against the diaphragm when you re-assemble the chamber. Bend the rest of the shim so that it follows the curve of the lower body. Careful to not block the small hole between the lower and upper diaphragm bodies. The shim covers the channel so that the rubber diaphragm will not block the control flow when the valve actuates. Works 100% of the time and makes the valve reliable. Just do it right away and save yourself problems later on. Once fixed, the valve is a good value compared to a Champion equivalent. Without the fix, forget it.

This replaced an old anti-siphon valve and this new valve works great. I needed adapter fittings because my old water line was 3/4”, but after that, all worked well.

Leaky Valves
I bought 3 of these to replace 20-year-old valves. Of the three new ones, two are now leaking around the screws that seal the rubber diaphragm. They have only been installed for TWO DAYS. Reading other reviews, it looks like this is a common issue. I tried tightening the screws, but it didn't fix the problem. It will be a few days before I can get to these to return them. Not a happy camper here! I do like the brass valves however and much prefer them to the plastic version, but very irritating.

It seems like a good product but this was actually to replace the exact same valve that we purchased 2 years ago which failed. It has a 5 or 6 year warranty and I'll be proceeding with a warranty claim but needed to purchase a new one as we needed it immediately to have our irrigation operate.

I was a little concerned that it is 1 1/2 shorter than the existing valve. I thought I would have to do some soldering but, I was able to make it work. After installation set up was easy. Flow seems to be better than the old one.
