Great and inexpensive Tile Cutter
I bought this manual tile cutter for a small porcelain tile project. This was my first experience cutting tile and I am pleased to say this cutter performed extremely well. I was cutting 2 inch by 5 7/8 inch subway tile, approximately 5/16 inch thick, and my short cuts were perfect with no chipping. I had to practice on a couple tiles to get my lengthwise cut to my satisfaction. I clamped the tile cutter to my kitchen table and that provided plenty of stability for the cutter.

Old lady gives it a thumbs up!
I had a small tile job to do. Never picked up a tile in my life. I watched a couple of YouTube videos to learn the ropes. I only needed a dozen mosaic tiles cut and this little thing did it without any problems or issues. SO easy! I give it my stamp of approval.

      Cheap and works great!
Bought this for a quick upgrade above my builder grade shower insert. Cut the tiles great and was very easy to use for subway tiles. Took me about 2-3 tries to find the right pressure to cut the tile as I’ve never tiled before. I wouldn’t purchase this if I was a contractor and using it daily but for home owner use, highly recommend.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you had an issue with this product. This tile cutter is best for cutting ceramic and porcelain up to 14" straight, 10" on a diagonal and 3/8" max. thickness. It is important to score the surface of the tile just once in one continuous motion. After scoring and without moving the tile, position the handle so that the breaker bar is slightly in from the front edge of the tile. Then, apply increasing pressure on the handle until the tile snaps along the score line. It may also help to hold the end of the tile while snapping.

              Great For A First Timer
I’m tiling our entryway (my first time doing any tiling) and I bought this to cut the pieces of porcelain tile. I’m very happy with it, especially since I needed pieces to be nearly perfectly straight in the areas that won’t be covered by baseboard. Would definitely recommend!

                Cheap but functional!
Needed to cut glass mosaic tiles and as always, home depot has none in stock! So I went to tile section and after looking I found this to be the cheapest. I bought it, layed tile, scores it once applying medium pressure and used the cracking leg to split them. ez geezy! If you're cracking tiles while scoring, reduce pressure and be gentle. Don't leave 1 star because it's not working, it is! It's YOU that's making it not work right!

The Anvil porcelain tile cutter is an excellent tool for cutting straight and angular cuts. If you haven’t used a manual tile cutter it’s a simple task. Follow instructions and you won’t fail. My first cut was a practice cut and the results were perfect. This 14 in tile cutter has a very attractive price, it is sturdy and well made. If you are handy with tools this Anvil tile cutter will do the job.

It cut glass mosaic tile perfectly!
I did some research and even though there were some horrible reviews on this I decided to give it a try due to it's reasonable price. It scored the tiles and snapped each one perfect. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews on this.

                        Disappointed
About 3/4 into a kitchen backsplash project, the piece that pushes down onto the tile snapped off the breaker bar. Broke after 4 hours of use. Very poor durability.

The worst tool I've ever purchased. STRONG recommendation of DO NOT PURCHASE.
Furious at how bad this is on so many levels. I've ruined almost half of my stock of tiles for a small project because of this garbage, in addition to having to purchase two more cutting wheels. - The ruler has no indicator of where to line it up, so it must be done manually. - The cutting wheel does not touch the tile in the fully down position. You have to place additional tiles underneath for it to hit. - The pressure "knob" to break the pieces rarely has enough leverage to break the tile, even when pushed fully down. - The pressure knob leaves permanent scuff marks on the tile. You have to cover each time with a cloth to prevent this. - The cutting wheel chipped after cutting 20 tiles, so delayed the project and I had to drive back to HD and buy new wheels. - About 1 out of 2-3 tiles will actually cut, and will usually be a poor cut because of all the manual tweaks you have to use to actually get it to cut. STRONG recommendation of DO NOT PURCHASE.

Bought to make rip cuts on 12” porcelain tile
Tip: be sure the part that touches the tile to snap it is within a few inches of the end of the tile. It will not cut/snap if trying to do so near the middle of the tile (at least for the 12”x12” porcelain tile I was using). I used with the Travisano Trevi 12” porcelain tile for mainly rip cuts. Didn’t try any diagonal cuts. Overall it worked well. Lines were as good as I needed them to be for hidden edges (under trim/transitions etc...). Could be easily cleaned up with tile files to like nicer if needed for more visible areas. I used a 7” tile saw to make the more difficult L and U shape cuts though. Would also work with angle grinder with a blade suitable for tile (diamond?). Was able to cut 1” in the least off of tiles with this manual tile cutter. Any smaller than that was impossible and I was only able to cut partial lengths where it split near the middle and finished up with a wet saw. Would recommend for tile up to 12”x12” based on my personal use.

                                No Experience, easy to use
This thing works greak on my ceramic tile. Easy to use, inexpensive, and cuts straight. My only suggestion for improvement is that the piece used to push down on the tile sometimes gets caught on the metal piece holding the tile in place, but it’s easy to just move it out of the way.

I have seen people cut tile before but I have never done it myself. I was not very sure I could do it. Well I gave it try and must say it came out very good and the Vnvil 14" tile cutter help out so much for my first time it worked and fireplace came out looking great.

This product is very easy to use. Working with 3x6 subway tile, I was able to make cuts around 1/4" with a little practice. My only complaint is that the rubber foot occasionally falls when cutting and causes the blade to stutter. Overall, very happy with the results especially for an inexpensive tool.

Product worked well but was unboxed missing one of the set screws for the fence attachment. Overall worked adequately at a competitive price! I have owned it for about two weeks and completed an entire tile shower with it. Works just as good as other brands I have owned in the past.

Bought to replace an old score and snap manual cutter from my younger days. After using a wet saw for so many years, I had forgotten how accurate and smooth these things cut. Working on a 2nd floor bathroom it saved me a ton of steps as I was able to make most of my cuts right there in my work area. Used on both glazed ceramic for shower walls and thicker ceramic for floors. No trouble with cuts and assuming complaints are likely coming from inexperienced users or ramrods.

I have absolutly NO experience with tile or cutting or any type of construction what so ever. This tile cutter made it so much easier to get my tile down to the sizes I needed. At one point i had to cut 1/4” off of a few pieces and it worked phenomenally! I did break a few pieces in the begining but i was able to use most of what i broke. Plus i think it was user error lol.

For the occasional DIY user this tool would probably be just fine but I would not recommend this tool for someone that has a large job to do or will be using this tool regularly. The tile cutter, it's not really a cutter, it scores and breaks the tile, it is light weight and easy to carry around. When breaking the tile it leaves a rather rough or jagged edge and it's not like using a tile saw which leaves a nice clean cut which looks much better and more finished. The side guide is adjustable but it is very flimsy and cheaply made. It is hard to get it set good and square even though it is set in a slot to supposedly to keep it square. The guide rods for the slider are fairly heavy but the bushings, or the lack of, on the slide are very sloppy.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well this cutter actually cut tile. Considering the price tag I didn't expect much but it definitely gets the job done. I had best results by scoring two or three times per cut, then the snap off tool work perfectly. The edges we're pretty clean-cut, as you can see from my photos. I was able to cut slices as thin as about 1 ", anything smaller shattered. My tile was glossier than average but i did notice he cutter left a chips in the Finish, but I planned on using trim anyway.

Fairly made tile cutter by Anvil, however… The design of cutter is minimalist for serving the purpose of manual cutting of ceramic tiles. Instructions for using are on the side of the box. You can cut up to ¼” thick tiles (per claims). The advantages are: - ruler (scale is poorly visible and can be improved) and - protractor built in: can cut at different directions. Performance: this is my first tile cutter that I got with the hope to redo the bath floor, so I do not have experience cutting tiles (I did successfully cut silica glass before with more simple cutters, using similar principles). To test this cutter I took old tiles left from previous project (done by others) and by following instructions from the box attempted to cut. The cutting is as following: you create groove with carbide reinforced roller blade (not issues here, fine groove) and then you should be able to crack the tile along the groove. With the latter I had no success so far – tile cracks in different directions. I did not try “cutting” tiles of other brands, so I cannot conclude here that this specific tile cutter (or breaker part of it which does not provide stress in direction of grove) is under-performing or just the tiles I had in hand are not good for cutting/breaking in this way. Disadvantage: pads that help fixing the tile are made from porous rubber and hard to clean some (though holding tiles well in place). My advice: try, do not like return within 90 days (thanks to Home Depot). Good luck and happy DIYing! P.S.: while was wring this review, came up with a couple of ideas how to brake the tiles (using the cutter part only and braking somewhere else. Will try and report if successful.)
