The handle broke after two times use!
The product is of no use. The handle broke just after using it for a couple of times. I bought this product in Nov. 2019 and I wrote this review on Sep. 4th, 2020. So, the product was still under warranty. I have been trying to reach the support center / warranty department of this company via phone calls and emails and no luck. The quality of the product and the support team is just so awful. If you want to avoid wasting your money and time, just simply stay away from this product and this company.,

        Poor quality
Used the farm jack to pull out a small tree stump. For sure it was not 6000 lbs they it had to handle, still it bent not even 20 min in use Also the my jack had an issue that the mechanism to reverse direction frequently automatically triggered even without lifting any weight. Outright dangerous. Cannot recommend this product and will return it tomorrow

Like most of these jacks in this price range strength and fit isn't perfect. One the first use one of my cotter pins fell off and was lost that holds the main pins in. I used a piece of wire until I put in 2 roll pins so that and the other pin will never fall out now. I wouldn't try to lift heavy loads on this more than half way. I bent the foot some putting about 1ton load or less on it with it crooked in dirt as I pulled fence poles not in concrete. DO put some lube on the mechanisms and rail ! I used 3 in 1 https://www.homedepot.com/p/3-IN-ONE-11-oz-Garage-Door-Lubricant-100584/202319356. This made it operate much smoother with less effort. When you release it be ready for it to lower all the way down so grab the handle to prepare for that. I would recommend it at the home depot delivered free price.

I purchased the Big Red Farm Jack to remove stumps. I’m talking about Red Tips, Crepe Myrtles, nothing that big. First Red Tip, no sweat. Second Red Tip seemed like a lot more work. On my third, a Crepe Myrtle, the top of the Jack just snapped in 2. I thought it was supposed to be solid steel construction that could lift up to 6 tons? My 2 ton chain doesn’t have a scratch but this thing snapped in half. I’m just glad that I didn’t get hurt. I will be returning it tomorrow. Won’t buy this brand again.

First off this is a review of the Torin Big Red Farm Jack, not Home Depot. Home Depot was great about issuing a refund of the returned jacks. The only two problems I had with the jacks were that one broke at the handle socket. Fortunately it cracked and didn't give way completely sparing me from injury. It's the risk of injury that caused me to return both jacks, the broken one and the functional one. The other issue is that there is no way these jacks will safely lift the rated weight of 3 tons. I did contact Torin and they offered to send me a replacement part, however I was no longer comfortable with the safety of these jacks. The reason I gave two stars instead of one is that maybe this is a fluke and not common, the Torin rep would not speak to whether this is common or not. As far as functionality before it cracked it worked as good or better than other farm jacks I have used and still use. I am attaching images of both sides showing the crack. The spring clip around the handle socket is only to hold the handle in the upright position. It will not hole the socket together.

I purchased this jack to pull shrub, bush, and small tree stumps out of the ground (google "farm jack stump removal"). It worked flawlessly, really exceeded expectations. It's so powerful! For this (rather unorthodox) application

I LOVE BIG RED. My 25 year old float is still in good shape but the fastenings holding the skids in place fell victim to salt water salt water. One of the 2x6's came off completely last fall and the piece under it was partially dislodged. So I needed to lift the side about 16 inches to replace the fastenings, enough for the length of the fastenings and the Makita impact driver. Our location is remote so a crane lift from the water side would be pretty expensive. Big Red to the rescue. As you can see from the photo the wintering cove is part rock and part soft marine clay. I put a board under red and jacked the board about a foot down before picking up the load. The jacking effort was easy and when I had it high enough I blocked the ends a couple of feet back from the work side and refastened the timber. Then, as I started jacking the thing down I realized that a photo might be nice. Then I went around the other side and did the same thing all on the same tide. This jack is heavy duty and awesome.

Mixed review on this item. First, it was listed on THE HD website as 3.5 tons, while it's only 3.0 tons. I got HD to change it there. The first one I got wouldn't even stand up by itself. If I let go to pump the handle, it would tip over left or right every time -- very dangerous with something this heavy. The slot in the base for the standard is WAY too loose and allows the standard to wobble and lean. The standard is connected only by a single, central pin. Also, it wouldn't jack up from the bottom when pumped; the climbing pin wouldn't engage the holes in the 5 ft. standard. I had to lift the whole jacking unit half way up the standard before it clicked in. After 3 weeks of calls/emails to Torin, I finally got to someone who told me that the unit was indeed defective. I returned it to HD (kudos to HD for a smooth and quick return/reorder!) . The new one jacks up and down fine, but still leans a bit, not enough to tip over, though. I've attached the whole unit to a 12"x12"x1 1/2" thick MDF base with (6) 1/4x20 hex bolts, compression washers and nuts. It will NOT tip over again (see photo). All in all, it jacks well and is very sturdy. But, its somewhat unstable nature combined with its weight is of concern. Watch it every second. WARNING: When jacking down, once the load weight is taken off, the whole jacking unit, complete with the handle, will suddenly drop all the way down to the floor unexpectedly!! That's a LOT of weight dropping suddenly. The owner's manual notes this fact but does NOT highlight it. BE AWARE!!! 3 STARS for a super sturdy, strong and useful farm jack with some instability and poor Torin customer service.

                  Farm Jack
I just used it to remove two fence post buried 3 feet with about 160 pounds of concrete that been in the ground for the last 25 years. With a some effort it pulled those pilings right out.

                  Saved my Jeep
After getting stuck during a late night off-roading adventure this jack was able to lift the Jeep off the ground even on the soft mud. If it weren't for it I'd probably still be out there.

Horrible Design -- Very Poor Quality
The main lifting claw material ruptured at the base structure (see photo) with first use. I estimate less than 1 ton was applied. Being a professionial mechanical engineer with decades of design, stress analysis, and material science experience, this has to be one of the poorest designed structural devices I have ever seen. The cast metal is not only very porous, but there is VERY weak structure at the highest stress location on the jack--the base of the claw where it attaches to the jack. Do not buy!!!

The jack works great! I used it to pull up a mailbox post that was in a steel sleeve, and 3 feet of concrete and 2 feet of dirt, I buried it so deep because it was getting knocked down so often. When it was knocked down again, it damaged the person's car (badly) and I decided to remove the mailbox altogether. I don't want to cause any injuries. I tried many ways to get the broken post up. I couldn't dig it out, I couldn't break the concrete up. I couldn't pull it out with my truck. But when I got the jack positioned and firmly attached the post was no match. I was able to lift it straight up. Problem solved. The bad part was that my order was delayed and postponed for the holiday. They should have known in advance and scheduled accordingly. Like they didn't know there was a holiday in the scheduled delivery time? Duh.
