We purchased this to match older hardwood floors already installed in our house...
I only gave this four stars because I would have most likely chosen a different floor to install given different circumstances. We already had hardwood flooring in our entry, kitchen, and breakfast area from when our house was built over 20 years ago. I'm cheap and did not want to tear that flooring out so we found this floor at Home Depot. The color and size were a near identical match to the existing floor. Installation was pretty straight forward. Our plan was to put this flooring in a living room, dining room, family room, upstairs hallway, and four bedrooms. The goal was to rid our house of carpet. We opted to install this ourselves since we had such a large area to install. We already had most of the tools we needed and were able to purchase the rest (flooring nailer, compressor, etc) for much cheaper than the cost to have it professionally installed. We have finished the living room, dining room, family room, and upstairs hallway so far. We find that we have very little waste if you take your time and plan your rows. Unlike some reviewers, in over 25 boxes, we've only found a couple of pieces to be unusable. My biggest complaint is that 2 1/4" planks are very labor intensive because their small width means you have to install over double the number of rows compared to larger width planks. We also experienced pretty low waste by laying the flooring rows out in advance to avoid cutting as much as possible. There is wide variation in character and color. I think it gives the floor a cool character.

    Absolute terrible quality of wood
This hardwood flooring has every flaw known to man - knots, rot, insect holes, poorly cut sipes and tongue (in case of the plank on the right, no tongue at all!). Even when it goes on sale, it's not really a deal! You'll throw out up to 60% o the box. Invest in better quality hardwood planks instead.

    Hi there!

It is important for us to hear feedback from our customers, and we thank you for taking the time to write us. We aim to provide quality products and services to our customers and to meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your flooring product.

The Plano collection is part of Bruce’s Natural Grade category which features a greater amount of visual character, such as wider color and grain variation, mineral streaks, knots and small holes as well as minor milling imperfections.

If you feel this is a manufacturing issue, you may go back to the flooring retailer where the material was purchased with a copy of your receipt. A sales associate will be happy to inspect your flooring and file a potential claim on your behalf.

We hope that this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact our Customer Services at 1-866-243-2726, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST., if you'd like additional assistance.

This is good quality real wood flooring. It has a great finish and is strong and durable for use in any high traffic area of the house. Installation can be done by DIYers as long as the installation instructions are followed closely. To get the best results the subfloor should be level and solid and the flooring acclimated for several days to a week before installation. I preferred using a manual nailer to install the flooring and took extra care to insure each plank was firmly seated in the tongue and groove with no gaps before nailing. This sometimes required prying slightly curved pieces together and using nails generously. The results were great. While this was a little wider than previous Bruce flooring I installed in our dining room and kitchen, the previous floor shown in photos are over 20 years old and have survived three kids and countless pets and still look good.

This flooring is good quality, has a good consistent finish, and it is pretty straight forward to install if you follow the requirements to allow the boxes of flooring to acclimate prior to installation. Its also key to have a level and sound subfloor. I installed ours over a layer of rosin paper. I used the manual flooring nailer and the recommended nails and spacing. Where I was using a long strip that had a slight curvature, I used a pry bar to push the flooring strip perfectly flush before nailing and used closely spaced nails to ensure it would stay straight. I used this identical brand of flooring on our kitchen and dining room floor when we remodeled our house 20 years ago and as the picture shows it still is looking good after 20 years with only normal cleaning using Bruce hardwood floor cleaner and polish.

      Good enough for DIY
At this price, I would not complain about this mixed lot of oak wood boards. I’m satisfied with the blend of colors and lengths. We did a DIY installation and only had to discard a few boards. We compensated for the uneven shapes by using them as cut pieces. After the 600 sq ft that we installed, we had less than a box left over. Then we decided the do another room because we were so pleased with the results.

        Variations in color
The variation in color of these wooden floor is extreme. I bought enough for five apartments. Installing the first few rooms went well until my contractor reached out to me because he was concerned that the woods color was off in certain boxes. Don’t waste your time and money on this product.

        Hi there!

It is important for us to hear feedback from our customers, and we thank you for taking the time to write us.

Beautiful hardwood floors are a product of nature and therefore not perfect. Every board, even when taken from the same tree, is different in color shade and grading. Every piece of wood is crafted by nature, this means, no repeats.

The Plano flooring collection is part of Bruce’s Natural Grade category which features a greater amount of visual character, such as wider color and grain variation. The color Marsh is made with both red and white oak; therefore, will feature a higher color variation.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope that this information is helpful. Have a great day. AHFProducts

Totally solid and beautiful piece of oak with a hard finish that will wear well for many years. I took pictures of both the the tongue and the groove to show you how excellently these are machined. When putting these boards together they fit together PERFECTLY and give you a solid and wonderfully fit. I am extremely impressed with quality of this product and how well it has been manufactured.

Truly enjoyed installing this flooring material. It is a true 3/4 of an inch thick natural wood with a hard finish on it. Extremely durable as well. Found all the boards to be true and ready for installation after waiting the the 24 hours for them to acclimate on to the job site. Was very pleased with how well the tongue and groove fit together on each piece of material. Very tight joint!

While this finish is called on the website as a Taupe finished material , I really was disappointed that it's more of a "white wash" type finish material. This is an excellent example of why you order sample materials before ordering a pallet to the job site. Fit and finish is however nice on the material and it would hold up nice. Loved how nice and tight the tongue fit into the groove as well. If you like lighter colored wood, this is a perfect fit for you. Give it a try.

Solid finish on these boards but I wonder if it's a little on the lighter side. Using these these boards on a set of basement steps so it will be interesting to see how well it holds up. Should be interesting. I have used this manufacturer in other rooms but have used area rugs for protection. Working with this material is a pleasure. Boards are true and straight. Tongues fit perfectly together too.

Solid finish on this very solid wood. Found all the wood in the boxes to be straight and true. I was very luckly and had zero waste from milling process OR from shipper. Was extremely impressed with product. I had expected that there would be some chipped edges or the tongues would be broken on some pieces but was very surprised there were not. Will certainly purchase from this vendor!

Beautiful and solid word wood flooring. I found the installation to be very easy with this full 3/4" material. The first thing I did to go through the material and find the smallest piece and I used that as my hammer blocking. That totally helped me make sure every board was installed nice and tight to the next one. That made for a tight installation. Material was extremely straight and true. Was extremely impressed!

Bruce wood flooring is definitely geared towards a new build or newly built home without an existing floor. This flooring is extremely thick and is made to be installed on subfloor only. The flooring is definitely real wood, has the pine and wood smell to it. Flooring is also extremely heavy but as far as durability it can get scratched easily so be cautious to which room you install and make sure all furniture has the guards so no chairs scratch or scuff the floor.

Bruce Plano Low Gloss Country Natural Oak flooring in various lengths looks great on my floor. It is easy to install if you do not mind trying to find the exact lengths of boards it takes to span from one wall to the other. I used a hammer and a block of wood to fit the boards together, then used a nail gun to secure them to the floor. It has a high quality finish and should last a long time of wear and tear walking on them.

Receive these in the mail today and I'm surprised it's only two boards for $122 That's a bit much perboard when you have a large deck I feel like there might be better options out there price wise now all that being said it's very nice material it looks like real aged wood it's got a proper texture and everything it's nice and thick it's a true one-inch thickness by 5.5-in wide very heavy and durable but I still can't justify $122 for just two boards in a pack

To start off I do prefer hardwood flooring that is installed and finished on site. But there is a place for prefinished, it does speed up things and is a lot less messy. This flooring looks like it is made from some nice oak (i'm not a wood expert by any measure). But the grain is not that large, but it's not old growth tight grain wood. there are minimal signs of knots. The finish seem pretty durable, like any wood flooring I would hesitate on installing it at an exterior entrance that get used all the time unless your shoes are clean or you take them off once you get inside. I hit a few scrap pieces with sand paper and it's pretty easy to leave scratches (not surprising, it's what sand paper is supposed to do). Dimensionally the boards are very consistent so it makes installation easier (no weird gaps to deal with or sorting wider and narrower boards (even boards of different finish were the same). The lengths are not all full length boards (flooring rarely is, and if it is you're paying a premium for it). I would have been nice if there was more longer boards. I am not sure if it was just my shipment but a fair bit of the boxes were broken open on the ends and this makes it more likely the ends of the boards being damages (about 5-10% of the boards were dinged up). Since the ends are tongue and groove, any cuts in the field with a finish other than natural might be an eyesore.

Bruce Plano Country Natural Oak hardwood flooring 5 inch planks are just beautiful. These wider floor boards look fantastic, the low gloss finish works beautifully with my existing floor boards, that have been naturally worn through use. I’m redoing my bedroom floors and these solid wood oak floor boards will match the existing hardwood flooring perfectly. These boards have what Bruce calls ‘micro beveled’, not the v-bevels, but a bit less pronounced while still maintaining a clean finished edge. Installation of the boards are standard as with all tongue and groove floor board installations. Bruce hardwood flooring has never failed me, and I can’t be happier with these 5 inch width boards!

These are a great choice for a hardwood floor option if you are looking to add Oak floors. The 3 boxes that I received had a great assortment of lengths (all at 5 inches wide). All of the pieces were cut really well and had very little variance between colors and the gaps, so they all fit together really well. They also have a great amount of actual surface, so they will be easy to refinish when the time comes.

The pallet of hardwood flooring arrived and I couldn't believe how much was delivered. Fifteen boxes! I ordered as much as I could in two colors, low gloss and they "match" pretty well. In all of the You-Tube videos it explains that you should open the boxes and work to match the wood the way it looks best. So I will just be doing that but with two colors and nixed sizes. I know that this is going to work. I did the math and was so excited to find that I have enough hardwood flooring to complete my entire upstairs. I already did a "dry fit" on part of the small room to see how it will look and get photos. It is going to look awesome!

The pallet of hardwood flooring arrived! I was expecting to get 20 square feet of flooring and ordered as many as I could in two colors and three sizes to have enough to use in one of the small rooms upstairs. I have one large room, one small room and a long closet. I was lucky enough to choose two colors, both low gloss that seem to "match" eachother pretty well. Fifteen boxes of hardwood flooring were delivered and it is enough material to completely finish the floors upstairs! I did the math and found that I have enough to complete it, including the closet. I was so excited when this hardwood flooring arrived! I can't wait to install it! Finishing the entire secnd floor has been a dream of mine and this low gloss hardwood flooring it just perfect. I just have to rent the proper equipment for installation. I "dry fit" a small portion of the wood strips and it seemed to fit together very quickly and easily. I read all of the instructions and watched a couple of You-Tube videos which offered several helpful tips for easy installation. I have experience putting in vinyl tiles, and engineered flooring. I am sure that this flooring will be as easy to install as those products.

I have never used the shale hardwood - It was a change for me. I have don't laminates in this color and they look flat. This product turned out so much nicer than I thought it would. 3/4 wood is so durable Hardness is somewhere near the very top - does not dent or scratch easily This wood is easy to do repairs if you need to cut a spot out You can sand and fix spot as needed - This is not something you can do with anything else. While a little tougher to install - there is no substitute to the top end.

I have not done hardwood flooring in a long time. I got used to doing interlocking flooring and that is so easy. I forgot how good this wood is. The hardwood does not fail like laminate - Also if you stain the floor, you can sand and repair with ease. You also can do repairs to a specific spot. This wood had such a beautiful finish - It is rich and looks very deep. Such a great reminder hard wood is the best product out there.

This "Country Natural" low gloss finish really allows the natural beauty of the wood to come through. I really like the 5" wide plank flooring look; it adds a more rustic/farmhouse feel to the floor. The cases do come with a variety of plank lengths, I found the majority to be less than 2 feet long, a number of 3-4 footers, and a few 5+ footers. The variety of lengths helps you put the flooring puzzle together with less cutting, and therefore less waste. However, it is still always prudent to order slightly more flooring than you need.
