Good afternoon. Thank you for taking the time to post a review of our product. I am sorry that this flooring was not up to expectations. This floor is part of the Plano collection. The Plano Collection is part of Bruce’s Natural Grade category which features a greater amount of visual character such as wider color and grain variation, mineral streaks, knots and small holes as well as minor milling imperfections. The milling issues, color variation, and other things that appear to be damaged are an acceptable part of this product line, as it is designed to give a rustic natural look. We recommend an overage amount of 10-15% with this flooring so you can cull out boards that don't look good and end up with a beautiful floor. I do apologize for any inconvenience. Have a great day. Armstrong

Yes, but many boards were not usable in the lengths they arrived. Many bowed, warped, crowned, twisted, whatever term one would chose to use. Saved them thinking we could cut them to reduce the abnormality but even in a closet they created an issue when it came to installing them. My partner and I decided that possibly H/D had ordered lumber that was not graded as #1 but possibly sold what might be classified as seconds or #2 quality in order to offer them at a reduced price. ??? Many boards came with missing portions of tongues, imperfections on the face, or machine handling impressions on the face. Glad we ordered 10-15% excess to allow for "scrap" which I paid full price for. Boxing was also an issue. Some boxes would contain 70-80% 'long boards' then the next box would be 80% shorts (8" to 30"). Solution was to open 3-4 boxes at a time to get the variety needed to install. Took up a lot of space.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to enter your comments, you input is a valuable part in helping us to provide better products. The Plano Collection is part of Bruce’s Natural Grade category which features a greater amount of visual character such as wider color and grain variation, mineral streaks, knots and small holes as well as minor milling imperfections. Wood is a natural material containing distinctive differences in color and grain configurations. It is these differences, caused by nature, that create the warmth, beauty and originality of each hardwood floor. Our floors are packaged in varying lengths, and the packaging is completely random. Because of the random lengths and color variation of hardwood floors we always recommend installing form at least 3-4 cartons of flooring at a time. I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Have a great day. Armstrong

Overall this product met expectations. I followed the advice of other reviewers and ordered 20% overage for waste and poorly milled product and it worked out just fine (180ft2 space and ordered 10 boxes). As noted by others, the finished side is very slightly beveled leaving some gaps. It is unlikely to ever be an issue since I doubt we'll ever attempt to change the color. The finish on this flooring does appear very durable. All things considered, ordering the overage, getting this product as a special buy of the day, and home depot credit promotions, the value was very high. Including labor, I got this done at about 40% of what was quoted to me by a local flooring store.

Do not buy
Product so bad, I'm continuing my review. Some planks were milled so narrow they didn't have tongues. Width variations with tongues were so common I created a pile of "thin" planks so I could install them in the same rows to minimize the gaps between rows due to materials sizing. Materially this is a cheap product at a high price. It will make the installer hate you and the manufacture. Per reviews, the 5” width planks are even worse than 3” planks. I will never use it again. Do not buy.

Quality control must not be a priority. Just started installing today, and have found several pieces of wood with splits, holes and defects. Does Bruce Floor sell their seconds to Home Depot. We’ll see how the other boxes look, but very disappointed with the first 3 boxes.
